So, the Steven Universe episode "Say Uncle" is coming out next week. Already, people are overreacting to it just because of "Uncle Grandpa". You heard a lot of bash that show gets. I personally like it, but don't jump to conclusions when Rebecca Sugar herself came up with this official episode.All we know so far from the synopsis is "In a crossover with Uncle Grandpa, a long lost relative of Steven's comes to town to aid him in unlocking the power of his mother's gem."
I'm looking forward to it. Also, I drew these sketches just for fun.
I know these sketches won't happen, but it'd be funny if this happened in a episode. XD

I guess it just depends on how the writers can make it work, after all, the comic universe had Archie meets The Punisher

Those things, to me, proved a crossover can work if you REALLY know both sources and know what you're doing.

I still don't know how the idea came about for Steven Universe to have a crossover episode with Uncle Grandpa, but if either that they tone down the silliness or make it non canon for the story of the series, it can work pending on their intention instead of just being a ratings trap.
But I guess the one reason many SU fans are upset about the idea, if I understand it from one perspective, is that their tones don't match for many. While SU is certainly no stranger to surreal atmosphere and comedic bits, it delved into this sense of maturity that many fans loved about it, whereas UG is WAY too silly that many feel just clashes with the tones. Though to UG's credit, while I'm not a fan of the show, it is VERY silly, but at least they don't act stupid like other notorious shows, I know they would be more pissed if SU had an episode with Johnny Test.
But I think that's just what it is, how a tone of one popular show doesn't mesh with another and to some, it feels like its disrespecting the mature program, its like if Warner Bros. were to make an episode of Batman: The Animated Series, but somehow it would have a crossover with Animaniacs.

Oh no I did watch it, just because I said its silly I never meant it was stupid, there's a difference, like Mabel from gravity falls, she's a very silly person, but she certainly knows a lot more than we give her credit for

It's like Bo-Bobo crossing over with other manga because it is silly. Well Kamen Rider Gaim and ToQger crossovers despite being dark and light respectively.

Makes sense, I'm just saying some people don't see that because either they're so elitist and hate any idea of SU being "stupid" or that they get irritated easily when they see something ridiculously silly in a show that has more mature moments.
I admit I don't like UG, but I certainly don't hate it. I just don't care. Its got nothing to make me angry about or irritated, at least its subtle with its silliness. But I admit 2 things just rub me a little about the show. The concept I swear mostly with its characters, feels like the kind of cartoon you see in another show, the kind that mocks the silliness of modern cartoons that somehow became noticed by a producer and wanted to make a show off of it, and, this might sound nitpicky...but I honestly don't like UG's voice. Again, not irritating, just not something I picture. And I know its the creator who voices UG, its just he sounds like your typical dumb guy you get in cartoons, you know, "Tell me about the rabbits George! =3" kind of voice. Then again, when just seeing the screencaps, I kept picturing UG with an Abe Simpson voice so that's my own fault then lol

And yet tell that to the deniers of the weirdness. And trust me, I watch weird shows, its not I hate it lol, its just unfortunately for me, UG has the kind of weird I've already seen before, so its nothing new for me.

Alright. lol Besides, something needs to fill that void like Bo-bobo did in Shonen Jump by being the break from seriousness of other shows. For the defined term of what kind of show, is what I would call wacky.
