I was reading about Van Helsing which, of course, led to Dracula and Vlad III the Impaler! Turns out he was decpitated in battle with the Turks. He was known for some rather gruesome stuff. I mean, obviously, he impaled people, but he'd nail people's hats to their heads and skin people and boil their flesh then feed it to their loved ones. And the impaled victims would stay alive for days before finally kicking it.
