What really should have happened during episode 8. Don't believe me? "Fear is the path to the Dark Side" Rey is very fearful, always anxious to return to Jakku fearing she'll miss her family's return. No other character in Star Wars expressed as much of that emotion as she does all throughout the sequel trilogy.

Only episode 7 exists for me (even this is a stretch due to the destruction of all effort and competence made by the characters in the original trilogy), everything else produced by Disney/Kathleen Kennedy set post RotJ needs to be ignored. If you believe otherwise, all you need to do is think critically (something the modern education system seem to be failing at). There's no denying that there are some beautiful scenes in The Last Jedi, and lesser degree Rise of Skywalker, however, they don't belong in the Star Wars universe. The proof? Every other media made prior to Disney's acquisition. If you need specifics there are numerous video essay breakdowns of just why they break the universe created by George Lucas on Youtube, Shadiversity is an entertaining one.
Tl;dr: there are no consequences in Disney's Star Wars making them garbage.
