The lift doors slid open, and Maehra stepped on to the bridge in the middle of the morning watch. Ship's time was not in sync with the planet below as the chronometers showed. The young ensign on tactical looked over and stood so fast the seat he was sitting on bounced off the display behind him as he shot to attention. "Capta..."

"Belay that. As you were," Maehra countered. "Lieutenant, signal the shore leave parties. Shore leave is hereby cancelled. All personnel are to report back to their duty stations, and prep the ship for 'science'."

"'Science?'" The young J.G. commanding the watch repeated. "Aye sir. We'll get everyone back aboard."

"I'll be in my ready room. Signal the wardroom to send a steward up with breakfast."

"Aye Captain."
