Tried to see how ponies would look if I shift them slightly more towards the show’s style… I’m not sure if I like it, tho. Lack of feet and the more 2d-ish hair is a bit weird to me. Even had the lineart colored the same way as in the show, but it lacked contrast, so I darkened it quite a bit.Related content

I don't think you really need to try drawing in the show's style. Considering how minimalistic it actually is, I always saw it as something for a beginner, something you rely on before learning about things like shading, muscles etc. because it is easy to draw. Natural progression would be starting to draw ponies as they appear in the show, then moving on to a more sophisticated style once you get more skilled. Your art is already great as it is so I don't think making it more show-like would be any improvement, especially when one looks how you usually draw Rarity's tail and how 2D it is in the show, as you have admitted yourself.
