Description
So...as pretty as Blue Angel Lightwing was I realized that her alt mode didn't fit what I had in mind for her. I loved the coloring and design for the blue and gold version, but my idea for Lightwing is that she's extremely fast but not very strong. The Blue Angels jet models only get to Mach 1.8, which comparatively isn't very fast. Her new alt mode is based on the NASA X-43 which is considered the fastest jet in the world. It's also very tiny, which fits in the fact that she's somewhere between Arcee and Bumblebee in height. As a backstory, she and Starscream were a couple (but not sparkbonded) before the war broke out. Both were scientists, so she's got a brain to go with her sassy attitude. When war did break out, she adamantly stayed neutral while Starscream joined the Decepticons, effectively separating them. She only ends up getting involved and traveling to Earth when Decepticons attack the settlement that she and other neutrals have made. She still stays relatively neutral, but favors the Autobots over the Decepticons in the war on Earth. She plays double agent for both sides, but again tends to work more for the Autobots.
The biggest thing I dislike is that the X-43 does not give much room for color creativity. It's black and silver (on some models) with the scramjet a gold color. I did a quick sketch of her back so that you can see the wing and scramjet placement. The light "black" is supposed to be the equivalent to the cockpit on the jet.
I also dislike that all my shades of gray except for 'Cool Gray' apparently disappeared so that I only had that ugly green-gray color to work with. I will try to digitally color the picture with Paint to at least get the shades of gray I want.
If anyone is absolutely bored and wants to try drawing her and playing around with her color scheme, I'd say go ahead. *wink wink*
Here's what she's based off of:
