Description
Here is an update for my drawingfeaturing Alexander SkarsgΓ₯rd as The Vampire Eric Northman as seen in the HBO series "True Blood".
In this update I have worked on defining and adding color to the smaller "action" portrait of Eric, I have also started blocking in the background colors.
in this stage the drawing is still very rough. The next step will be to work on the large portrait of Eric and then add details and highlights to the background which will bring both portraits together.
Size 11" x 18 1/2"
Drawn with No. 2 Graphite pencil, Prismacolor colored pencils with white acrylic highlights.
Drawn on Strathmore Colored paper
True Blood, Eric Northman and all related characters and properties (including the reference photos) are copyrighted by HBO
Eric Northman was created by Charlaine Harris

There is something very striking and imposing about the larger background portrait of Eric and I see this as his 'alter ego' or a 'dark/light' side to him, a self that is something he pushes away or hides. In which case I think his face could be softer or different somehow. Furthermore the portrait far outweighs the foreground image in its current state and setting and I see no connection visually between the two. Your lines veer diagonally from right to left thus forcing him to somehow connect to the foreground image in another way.I keep thinking pushing the portrait even further, bigger or closer to Alex.
It depends on if your intended effect IS to keep them separate or together. Colored pencies btw are totally underrated and epic 8D
