Cryo. By far. I fell in love with him the momemt I found him on the glacier in the First game.
Sadly, he is only available AFTER the story line in BOTH games.

you need to play more skullgirls obviously (and donate to the skullgirls DLC character drive, going on now for another two days! [link] donate now and you can vote for the third DLC character they'll make, including Stanley, the scientist shark, and Isaac, a man with a time-travelling glove 
Also, if you can count Miss Fortune's immortality as a weapon (probably not), then I'm in even less screwed. Actually, I think the last character I played was Painwheel, so I seriously doubt those zombies would want to mess with me if I have her weapons.

aw, oh well. It is a fun game though. It's also coming to PC as a download, But alot of people aren't into fighting games, so I get it. You can probably still vote on the character even if you dont donate actually.
