Backstory
Shade was only one on twelve created during the time of the Sky Eater, at the beginning of Kaos' attack. Brought to life through the power of molten darkness; a raw, 'purer' form of petrified darkness. Shade had no individuality, no personality. He was a test run, a prototype of the experiment. And thus, he was imperfect. Unlike the others, Shade began questioning Kaos' orders. He would begin to talk back, ask questions about the reason he and the others were subjugating everything they came across, never satisfied with the answers he received. Still, Shade believed he was doing the right thing. Until one day, Shade and the others were deployed to capture a group of three mabu. Finally noticing the havoc they were reeking, on innocent lives no less, Shade made the impulse decision to turn on his group. When they returned to the Sky Eater, before their debriefing, Shade attacked his group, leading them into the vat of molten darkness, before breaking the machine so Kaos couldn't create ant more of his kind. When he was about to eject that level of the Sky Eater, he was disarmed and locked away for 'reprogramming'
During the final battle on the Sky Eater, Shade's cell was discovered by the light mage accompanying the Skylanders, Angelo. Noticing his situation and hearing his story, Angelo helped Shade to escape, though in the commotion a container of molten darkness was shattered and spilled onto Angelo. Shade carried him to safety.
Shade assisted in the final battle against the Darkness, Angelo vouching for his case after the fact, even suggesting to Master Eon that he allow Shade into the Academy training program. Which Eon agreed to. There, he met Shoria and Mammagma, the three going through the Academy together, forming their own team.
