I'm okay with reverse griffons. I think the expression of the last one is pretty adorable too.

Wow, this is one of the coolest and funniest things I've seen in a while. What a great idea! The quote and parents' expressions made it even funnier. I've never thought of this kind of dilemma with mythological creatures, but now you've got me wondering how something like a chimera might work out. Great artwork, I thought that this was a real book cover at first, and now I really wish it was. This would make a pretty cool story.

Probably because many mammals (I think including lion cubs, can't be arsed to google it right now) are born with blue eyes. They turn whatever color they are supposed to be when they get older, just like many people's eyes do at birth. It's especially common for light colored eyes, like green, gold or hazel. Things with brown eyes are usually born with brown eyes.

They're not quite as blue as shown here--more grey than blue--but still a different color than adults' eyes.
The same thing happens with other animals too, like puppies, wolf cubs or even some foals.

horses are not new to me. my aunt actually breeds horses for their blue eyes. she even has 2 that have half an eye blue and half of it brown. not one eye blue and one eye brown (which she also has) but actually like it was cut in half and switched with a blue half. its really cool and kinda freaky at the same time. i should really get a picture of that.
as for the birds, i found a bird with blue eyes. he is called a Satin Bowerbird. very pretty eyes. and i also realized that one of my parakeets has blue eyes

I love odd-eyed horses, especially ones with china eyes.
But I mean I'm talking about ones that grow up to have lighter colored brown eyes (like hazel) and are born with really really dark blue ones.

yea i understood what you meant. i was just saying that their horses are bred to keep the blue. and i understand the griffins too

Ok, just making sure. I do really love odd eyed horses, especially if they have natural eyeliner. I like odd-eyed dogs too, like Australian Shepherds and some Huskies. They just look so cool.

blue eyes are recessive genes. those genes (and others like it) can skip generations.

buts its odd. birds don't have blue eyes and i've only ever seen a white lion with blue eyes (mutations, gotta luv em <3 ). i understand the logic behind it though, punnet squares were my forte in biology

Jackdaws do, but I'm having trouble thinking of others right now XD
I've certainly not heard of an eagle with blue eyes, but if anyone knows different please correct me.

ok, there IS difference between the white eyes and blue eyes. but i have found 2 blue eyed birds. the juvenile Australian Raven has light blue eyes until it matures and then the eyes turn white, and the Satin Bowerbird has VERY vivid blue eyes. i suggest looking him up, his eyes are very cool.

Wow, the bowerbird has such beautiful, if strange, eyes, they look almost photoshopped.

I've never seen a Jackdaw, they don't live here in the States. but looking them up they can be a really beautiful brid (favorite type of birds: black birds 3 ) white irises, i've never heard that in birds before. white irises can also mean blue (does with horses and dogs at least) must do more research.....
