Description
I really like drawing dog paws and one day while life-drawing my sleeping mutts' feet I noticed an easy method to block out the shape of a paw pad, so I thought I'd share!Related content

Although I dont like to draw paws on my furs (I prefer to draw hands and feets, to make them appear more human), this will be useful to me when I get around to drawing some canines. Thanks alot mate.

It's interesting to see all the "tricks" people use to draw what at first seems like a simple drawing. I'm not into drawing myself but I've seen this tutorial and the one showing a few tips and tricks about drawing faces and it's all quite interesting Come to think of it, I wonder how much time and effort it took to draw all those realistic looking comics I used to read a few years back...

This is good, but you're missing the thumb and the finger-like limb that makes up a part of the palm further up on the foot.
[link]
the dog's thumb is called the "Dew Claw" (D) and the clawless, boneless finger-like limb is called the "Carpel Pad" (E)

Those are on the front feet of the dog only (except some dog breeds who have dew claws on the hind legs), this is a sketch showing a dog's hind-paw. I probably should have stated so but the general shape of the actual paw pad is relatively similar with all 4 of a dog's paws.
But yes, people drawing fore-paws should not overlook the carpel pads or dew claws!

I agree entirely, and brb, I will check my dog's anatomy around its hind legs.
YES THAT SOUNDS WRONG.

Well now why didn't I think of this
Great way to do this, now I noticed you have one that is kind of at an angle. You would just kind of shorten one side of the Pentagon??
