tw: metaphorical/symbolic depictions of: dysphoria/dysmorphia, hate crimes/bashing, anti-trans propaganda

In my poetry unit last year we had to make three poems of different types, so this is what I made for my metaphor poem. I also made a couple haikus and a nonet, but those were done in pencil and are unfortunately not picked up well in scanning.

I already had an attachment to poetry before doing this assignment, but this assignment really brought me into making it regularly. Some motifs I use commonly started here, so I guess I'll explain those!

I use a columbidae (the family of birds which doves and pigeons are under) to portray a bashed trans person.

I often use magazines to symbolize something, but sometimes I feel like it's just for pizzazz, since I don't really have a pinned down notion of what it means. In these poems it's to resemble the news and general media (sorta), but in dome it's more about perception of the self and others. Plus a lot of other things. Was partially inspired by old school feminist critiques of the ways women and girls are sexualized in media and marketed to.
