So....the single HC I have for MLP, and it's because I really just want a kirin ok. There's not a lot in the show, so this is massively headcanon

Kirin mostly live in the eastern lands, past the Peaks of Peril. The species began when a few unicorn tribes moved into the territory of eastern dragons. The dragons, being more peaceful than their western counterparts, were happy to form alliances with their new neighbors. Half-dragon, half-unicorn children began to be born and become more common. Eventually, only these half-dragon, half-unicorns and long-lived dragons were left as unicorns were bred into the population - the very first Kirin were born.

Kirin are more deer-like than pony-like, with long, thin legs, narrow flanks, and musk-deer-like tusks. They're able to pull the tusks back to keep them out of the way when eating or talking, and tend to only bring them forward when angry. They have a single, branching horn - a sign of their mixed species past - through which they channel magic. Most of their magic is pretty unicorn-like, except when in threatening situations when their more dragon-like magic comes out in an explosive burst. While this is great for dealing with hungry Ursas and angry Timberwolves, it's obviously not great when you live together in a society. This has created a culture that puts a great emphasis on mindfulness. What's worse is that Nirik are literally explosive and on occasion, they can let out an especially violent burst of raw magic that nukes the environment around them.
Luckily, Kirin foals who go Nirik aren't particularly powerful, so while parents have to deal with things catching fire, they rarely have to worry about the baby exploding the house.

This particular bab is a first pass for a dumb Kirinsona for myself. She's pretty deadpan and serious, but unfortunately she's extra explosive. She probably meets some big doofy monster who isn't intimidated by her nirik form and falls for him.
