Inspired by the Pale Man from Pan's Labyrinth, though the Pale Man in turn was based on Tenome, a Japanese youkai spirit.

In folklore, Tenome was a blind man beaten and left for dead by a mugger. His desire for vengeance was so great that he gradually transformed into a monster, losing his useless human eyes entirely and growing a new pair on the hands he had always used to feel his way around. Though finally gifted with sight, Tenome never saw the face of his attacker and simply kills whoever he can get his hands on, still figuratively blinded by his anger.
