Description
The acceptance of the rogue Kovu into the Pridelands caused many buried feelings to come to light--fear from those who remembered the mad reign of Scar and the terror wrought by his self-appointed right paw Zira, anger from those who wished to see an impudent young rogue run off for the treachery of his ancestors, and even desire from young lionesses too young to remember Scar, but old enough to wonder why border laws were so strict. The most unpredictable reaction, however, came from the most unlikely source: Tiifu. The young lioness held no grudge against her childhood friend for her new romance, but unlike the other young lionesses of the pride she avoided Kovu outright. This afforded her the approval of the elder lionesses of the pride; an approval she knew would soon vanish if they knew that her reasoning was less due to old hatreds and more to painful remembrances of bright blue eyes, a rough voice softened to honey-sweetness by affection, and an impossibly scruffy pelt...

Yes, I very much ship Tiifu with Vitani if it isn't obvious at this point. I think that around the time Kovu met Kiara, the two of them had also met. Their relationship definitely lasted a little longer than Kovu's with Kiara simply because more focus was on Kovu and Kiara as heirs to their parents' kingdoms. While there was still a tremendous amount of pressure on Vitani, there was none on Tiifu, and as a result Vitani was very much inclined to sneak away with Tiifu to have her hurts soothed and to gaze at the most beautiful and kind lioness her age she had ever met. For her part Tiifu was fascinated by her new companion's daring and strength, and was content to feel protected knowing that Vitani was near. The two became separated in their teens when Zira's training intensified and Tiifu's parents began to float the idea of a betrothal to some foreign prince, but Tiifu always remembered Vitani...even when she didn't understand why. The two eventually have a happy ending when Vitani returns to the Pridelands, but it takes some work!
