Bill Elliott made his NASCAR Cup debut in 1976 at the age of 20 in a Ford. In 1987, the driver qualified at Daytona at an average speed of 210.364 mph (338.548 km/h) and at Talladega at 212.809 mph (342.483 km/h). Both records remain intact, since since then the cars have restrictor plates in the air intake in these circuits to reduce the power of the engines and therefore the top speed.
