(The concept of empires was inspired by Percy-McMurphy.)

After Abeo, the first king of the of the Pridelands, introduced the concept of ruling, it changed life in the world. Many new ways of life were produced as a result.

Kingdoms
Kingdoms are the most basic form of ruling, starting with King Abeo of the Pridelands . The ruling monarchs being named king or queen. Most of the time, the heir to the kingdom is the child of the current ruler. If the current ruler has no eligible children, their siblings are often the heirs. If the current ruler has no children or siblings, often their mate, relative of mate, distant relative or another descendant is made heir. Sometimes a completely unrelated individual could be chosen by heir. Their have been recorded incident where the ruling monarch was usurped from the throne. However, some kingdoms operate on such ways, and the ruler is chosen by being the winner of the mashindano season.
Many other ways of life are similar to the Kingdoms, such as Pharoahs, Chakravarthis, Sultans, Tsars, Maharajas, Tennos, Obas, Khagans, Krols, Kaisers and Tlatoanies . However, their monarchs can be notorious and cunning rulers.

No Lion's Lands
No Lion's Lands are places where animals act like they did before Abeo's revolution (eg: The lion prides still follow 'Pride Law').

Nations
The leader of a nation is selected by the animals. A few candidates will be announced, and all animals voting for that candidate will be required to stay in a specific area. Then, a team of animals that are neutral shall count the number of votes for each candidate.

Freelands
Most Kingdoms of Africa are connected together, and lay in what is known as 'Kingdom Territory'. Freelands are areas between the borders of Kingdoms, and rogues wander through there. Freelands are relatively safe, compared to No Lion's Lands, as animals there respect the Circle of Life.

Halali
Animals that live in Kingdoms but don't respect the Circle of Life are exiled to Halali lands. They are, however, permitted to leave to a No Lion's Land.

Empires
Empires operate similar to kingdoms, but rule by fear instead of respect. An empire can also house multiple kingdoms, and some are always looking to expand. The territory of empires tend to be larger that the territory of kingdoms, however, the lifespan of an empire is usually short, and they often collapse within a few years after forming, as most emperors find it hard to rule such a vast territory. Emperors often actively go against the Circle of Life.

The concept of empires was introduced by Kuuma, an African Golden Wolf, who introduced it to rival Abeo's Pridelands.

After having taken down Uamuzu, the gnu that had caused trouble in his kingdom, Abeo was looking forward to some peace. However, Kuuma had other plans for him. Her pack had been studying the spirits for generations, trying become one with the spirits. Make themselves a place where the mortal world and afterlife coincide.
And Kuuma was the one who was successful with that.
Her howl unleashed gamma rays, and were able to destroy anything that stood in her way. The radiation released from her howl would be enough to make the lands uninhabitable for generations. But Kuuma didn't want that. Minimizing the effect of her howl allowed her to create earthquakes and such.
(Not based on those wild dog paintings in TLG having those lightning bark powers. Those are for later.)

Abeo had no idea that his own grandson and descendants from then on would have something similar known as 'The Roar of the Elders'. With no roar, he was totally unprepared for Kuuma's howl.'
Kuuma unleashed her howl on Abeo, having arrived and challenged him for the throne. Abeo was thrown away, and left bruised and battered. He would have been killed by Kuuma if Abeo's pride hadn't come to the rescue, and scarred her in the eye. She swore revenge, and left. With her pack, she formed her own kingdom, or rather her own Empire, the Yowe Empire. The Yowe Empire territory was massive, stretching across Africa. (From The Congo Republic to Somalia in our world). She found out that her howl could cause the clouds to leave the Pridelands, which she did, causing a severe drought in the Pridelands. EclipseGleam left to challenge her, but then Kuuma unleashed her nuclear energy upon her, leaving nothing but EclipseGleam's shadow behind.

Kuuma wasn't done yet. She then unleashed her howl on the watering holes of the Pridelands, which resulted in mutated animals being born. The animals died soon after birth, and many who consumed the water also perished. Satisfied, she unleashed her howl on the watering holes again, taking away the nuclear waste.
The animals began to fear her, and also loose respect for Abeo. He wasn't able to protect them from Kuuma. Kuuma was going to win this war, the animals were sure of it. Why not just be friends with her.

And so, many of the animals sided with Kuuma. Kuuma was egotistical about this. She declared war between the Pridelands and Yowe Empire.

It was a bloodbath. Many of the animals that remained in the Pridelands, minus the children, were slaughtered. Kuuma knew that she could manipulate the children into joining her later on. Kuuma also took very little prisoners, and the ones she did take were better off dead. They were kept in pits, and provided with little food and water. And Kuuma enjoyed tortring these animals.

Kuuma also sent two  semi leucistic side striped jackals named Kushoto and Haki (www.deviantart.com/second-indo… ) to spy on the Pridelands for her, as well as steal any food the lions had for them. This would cause the Pride to need to evacuate the safety of the Pridelands, where Kuuma could destroy them all.

When Abeo herd of Kushoto and Haki, who were causing trouble in the Pridelands, he had had enough. He was stressed out, and seeing Kushoto and Haki run away with the little food he and his pride had pushed him over the edge. He had walked into one of Kuuma's other traps. He charged, following the jackals. Haki saw Abeo charging after them, and put the stolen food down and howled, alerting Kuuma who was nearby. Kuuma smirked, revealing herself, and attacking Abeo, who was now a little emacitated.  The two battled, with Kuuma winning. Kuuma prepared to burst Abeo into ashes, but stood to gloat. She then prepared to unleash her nuclear howl, when Abeo smacked her with his paw, breaking her jaw and throwing her off. Abeo then pounced onto her, and ripped her into shreds. Kushoto and Haki stood close by, ready to eat Kuuma's remains, when Abeo turned towards them, killing them as well.
Hearing that Kuuma lost the war, many animals that had deserted Abeo returned to the Pridelands. So did a few new comers, including Abegunde, who later became mates with Abeo's heir Aaminata. The Yowe Empire stood for three more generations, before it collapsed. And the Yowe Empire had shrunk significantly, much of it's territory becoming kingdoms and No Lion's Lands.

A few years later, a rogue named Lucifer'Mane attempted to attack the Pridelands, and while he did kill Abegunde, he was no where near the level of threat Kuuma was. Askari, Abegunde's son, gained the Roar of the Elders, which pleased Abeo. If only he could have that sooner.

The roar would be necessary for the enemies the Pridelands was about to face now....
