Shupaza was the only daughter of Kuongoza and Sarauniya. After Kuongoza was killed by a pack of African Wild Dogs, Shupaza takes over the throne. She is seen as a dedicated queen, spending sleepless nights working on improving the well being of her subjects. Her commitment is appreciated by her subjects, but some realize that she doesn't have any mate or cubs.
Shupaza is too busy to worry about this. She must talk with the leaders of the herds, find water sources to be used during the drought, attend numerous coronations of allies, weddings and births.
Shupaza also spends a lot of her time away from the kingdom, gathering allies. Her goal is to make the Sunlands the greatest kingdom there ever was.

After many years, Shupaza finally decides to get her self a mate. The only problem was that she was very old now. Shupaza is Mohatu's age, and Mohatu's grand childson Mufasa is now in his late teens. None of her allies agrees to betroth their young son to an ancient lioness. The Sunlanders assume that the throne would go to Mufasa's younger brother Taka (Scar), as he was the grandson of Shupaza's cousin, Asali. Taka too, believes it and wants it to stay this way.
So Shupaza sets off to find a rogue to mate with. No self respecting rogue would however, mate with such an old lioness. Shupaza is ready to give up, till she comes across Bartrum.
Bartrum is a maneless lion, who was only a few months younger than Shupaza. No lioness had mated with him, and he didn't think that his blood line would continue.
Bartrum and Shupaza court each other, and then arrived at the Sunlands.
Taka was outrageous. He should have been the heir! But now Shupaza welcomed two sons, Bandar and Ngor, who were (in human years) a few years older than Simba. Bartrum sadly died before he saw any of his cubs.
But it was still a miracle that Shupaza could still have cubs at such an age.
Shupaza lived till Bandar's teen years, where she died in her sleep, and the Sunlands were ruled by their teenaged king.
