Description December 2006

Source is the showing of the relationship between a small entity to a greater, overpowering Entity. For me, this is the relationship between God and creation (human), but it can apply to any number of things as the viewer sees fit. I purposefully depicted God as a circle as a commentary at the ubiquitous titling of God as “Him”. Truly, an ultimate being that created everything must be gender-neutral, or at least encompass all genders possible. Many major religions, however, seem not to actively acknowledge this, and this causes an overemphasis on God’s masculine traits (overpowering, violent, judgmental). In Source, God is not masculine, but is feminine. God is a caretaker; a being of total balance and perfection, and in harmony with the creation S/He communicates with. This is necessary because the being down below is also balanced; in harmony with its Creator, and ready to expound the message to any other being it may encounter. The communication between Creator and creation bridges the different structures they live in without fail, yet is still affected by it. Context changes the color of the message—perhaps out of need, or just inevitability.

It should be noted that, though the two entities are depicted as circles, they are not necessarily feminine in gender, but simply feminine in traits for the sake of commentary and meaning.

This painting is part of the archetypal narrative series, and is extremely large. I think it's eight feet or something.
