Description this is a commission painting for a relative of mine... because my typical painted work didn't really agree with this relative (grandmother) i used some brighter colors than usual and a more structured composition compared to the rest of my work. Normally my work is darker and subtler. For the moment, most of my paintings are available for viewing on my website: [link]

my favorite part of this painting is probably the circles, which are very in-the-moment and spontaneous. they're similar to the blue stroke on the left, but have a certain randomness about them that i really think brings a great character to the piece and balances that hard, straight black line that divides the painting from cold to warm. the blue stroke is more controlled, composed, and meditative.

a little color correction on this photo of the piece, but that's pretty much how the thing looks in real life.

30x40, acrylic paints. used a wide, plastic spatula as a palette knife for some of the streaky effects.

done at 2:00 AM whilst listening to Rush's 30th anniversary performance in Frankfurt.

That blue streak that's kind of the border between the orange and the grey is the prettiest part of this piece for me; the way it kind of fades into the grey, and how deep and rich the color is...

I dunno. The circles don't really do it for me, but that swirl on the reddish-orange bit is also pretty cool.
