The way I find influence is by sense of Story, Style and Sense of Humor/other.

for instance:

Garfield and Friends: This cartoon and his comic strip influenced me Character Design, Humor and the kind of Saturday Morning Cartoon vibe that got me inspired.

Genndy Tartakovsky: My favorite type of animator who gave me Style and Humor on Dexter's Laboratory and Hotel Transylvania and the Story of Samurai Jack.

Muppet Treasure Island: The story of movie is obviously based on a book called Treasure Island has gave me the inspiration on Pirate Adventure As much as The Muppets provided Humor.

Mr. Warburton: KND gave me Character Design and Style.

Butch Hartman: From The Fairly Oddparents to Bunsen is a Beast he influenced me to make more than one cartoon and TUFF Puppy gave me some Anthropomorphic Character Design.

Dav Pilkey: His stories not only inspired me to read but his Storytelling, Character Design and Humor as well.

Joe Murray: his Bizarre facial expressions and wild takes on Rocko's Modern Life and Camp Lazlo has been a great influence.

Looney Tunes: For their Humor and Slapstick comedy. oh, and their movement!

Rocky and Bullwinkle: Their sense of Story is amazing how they have Narration, Timing, Humor and how they wrap things up and continue on the next episode. Original or Reboot I love both of them.

Chris Eliopoulos: When I saw "I am Lucille Ball" book and saw his Style of Illustration and Storytelling was incredible.

Charles M. Schulz: I guess to me their character design seems simple enough for me to draw, it's similar to Chris Eliopoulos's illustration.

That's How I got Influenced! Pretty sure there's other stuff that inspired me but these are my big ones.
