Working with conte crayons was something one of our instructors in college always felt was important. I wasn't sure what he was never saying but always implying with that. Then I got a commission for some Wild West styled pieces, and this was THE medium to utilize. It gives that dusty, gritty look to things but clear definition of color and line that is needed for the epic scenes on a page like one would find in a classic Western film. Here is the first in a set that I did in 1999 for a game designer that was releasing a series of Wild West games and materials.
