I'm not trying to be mean. For some reason, I am actually concerned. Weight DOES matter. It's not a matter of appeal, it's a matter of health. She is NOT healthy, and it is NOT ok.
Go ahead and report me. lol. I've long since stopped producing work for this site. I just happened to see this image in passing, and had to say something.

Well you're right and you're wrong.
Weight is an important aspect of health, That's true.
But don't you think she knows that? Don't you think that people who smoke know that it causes cancer? Obviously she is okay with the way she looks and the health risks involved.
Being overweight is unhealthy but millions of people survive the problems it incurs and live to ripe old ages, just like smokers and pill poppers and caffeine consumers.
Being underweight, however, is much more perilous and has a much higher death toll with more severe side effects.
So, if you're going to have an unhealthy weight, at least overweight is the lesser of the two evils.

Sir, I have news for you: Fat is NOT necessarily unhealthy! My mother, in her 90s, has been overweight ever since I can remember, and has successfully fought off cancer, has admirably low blood pressure, and can still slaughter me in word games.
Fat activists have suggested that the health problems usually associated with fat actually parallel similar health problems in minorities, which are clearly stress-related. Take away prejudicial comments and attitudes like yours and the health problems might go away.
(For the record, I am very slim. But prejudice of any kind gets me angry.)

No, it is not naive to asume low weight equals good health, you can be a thin person but still be unhealthy. My mother is 150 lbs but is plauged with bad health. In reality, as long as you eat healthy, and manage stress you can be perfectly healthy no matter what your size.
I honestly think that if your so concerned about the health of others...you have too much time on your hands there big boy, worry about yourself and not other people.

Oh don't be all holly rolly about it. It's obvious you haven't pushed anyone in any direction except away from your "cause". It's obvious that being over weight is not as healthy as being ideal weight. Unfortunately it's only a tiny tiny piece of the unhealthy activity puzzle.
Go patronize people who do drugs like cigarettes and liquor, people who consume caffeine, people who live in polluted areas, people who don't consume enough vitamins, people ride roller coasters and sky dive. Lots of things are unhealthy, unless you're going to seek them all out and chastise each one of them, I see no point in focusing on obesity.

Also, it's discusting to me how this got into popular fashion portraits....
1. From a photography standpoint, there are no redeeming qualities in this photo. There is nothing that the photographer has done that would even give this a second look.
2. The model. Supporting someone who wants to get into a modeling career is one thing, but supporting obesity is just wrong, and inhumane.
Being nice, and accepting her for who she is might sound all fine and dandy, but this woman is not healthy. What you people are doing here is like buying a smoker a carton of cigarettes for their birthday.
Get help, hun. I mean this in the most sincere way that I can. You're not too old to give up on yourself, but it looks like that is the road you have chosen. Please turn this around for your own good.

1. Aesthetics are very much subjective. The photo does have a good range of tones and at least the arms are cropped at an acceptable point that doesn't sever the joints.
2. I don't think people are supporting obesity, they're just supporting Theresa. What would you get a smoker for his/her birthday? Smokers like smoking. If I don't want them to smoke I'll tell them, if it doesn't bother me either way I have no problem buying them cigarettes for their birthday.

No offense, but this thing is put on a PUBLIC site. If the artist only wanted to hear praise then they should just show their family/friends/or people they know would support them no matter what.
If you put artwork on a PUBLIC site, then you should expect the occasional comment that says "You suck" because no matter what you do, someone will think it sucks. The trick is to figure it why. Are they trolling you? Are they giving harsh advice? You have to keep these things in consideration. And yes, I realise you didn't make the piece, but this still applies to everyone!

The reason I take personal offense is that you did not critique the piece of artwork, you made direct comment regarding the way the model looked. Saying you think the lighting on the Mona is too strong is one thing, but saying her eyes are too big is another.
FYI, a person does not have to be thin to be healthy. Large people can be healthy as well.
Besides,
People do not post their artwork here for health tips, they post it here to get artistic critique.
If you want to comment on people's size, and encourage them in that way, get a subscription to a weight-consious forum.
This model is beautiful the way she is, and this image is well done. It has good light and composition.

Was not the thinck skin I was commenting bout, but rather the spirit that the comment was given.

Excuse me. I have not "given up" on myself, you don't know me, you are judging me based solely on physical traits you personally don't approve of and from any stand point that is wrong.
I am healthy even as I am over weight all my vitals signs and other crucial measurements of "health" fall with in the low normal ranges. The only medical problem I do have is a hypo-thyroid condition which does tend to make losing weight difficult, but not impossible. But you don't care about any of that you only care that I don't fit your image of what is acceptable.
I do like me and I am happy with how I look, I am sorry if you are so narrow minded as to judge based solely on looks.

I agree with you wholeheartedly Theresa, weight doesn't matter, you're a beautiful woman who loves who you are and that's what matters when it comes down to it. Models come in all shapes and sizes as we both well know, and I support you one hundred percent in your efforts, you're talented and you have a great heart. Ignore anyone who says otherwise.

I know what you mean and it's horrible that people do that, they may not do it intentionally but it still has the same effect and it will still hurt other people weather they are already established or just getting started. The fact that they don't seem to care either way only makes it worse.
