...I really wanted to love this movie... I really did... But the moral message is such a contradicting hot mess and the Happy Ending with everybody instantly forgiving each other was way too forced, even by Disney Standards...And the thing that drives me crazy are these two characters: Sisu and Naamari...
Sisu comes off as one of those 'pacifistic' characters that value their own morals over the feelings (and possibly lives) of the people that are supposed to be their actual friends! (Steven Quartz Universe and Wander come to mind...)
I have nothing against pacifistic characters... when they're actually done right! (Like Avatar Aang for example...)
I honestly prefer Mushu from Mulan or even Blazey from Onward, over Sisu...
As for Naamari... she's honestly a decent morally grey anti-villian, but my problem with her is that she never takes full responsibility for any of her actions (even though they were accidents, she still doomed the world with her selfishness and made Raya lose her Dad, leaving the poor girl without a family for 6 years)... nor does she ever actually apologize to Raya and Sisu...
Also, I can't believe that Sisu (and the movie itself) acts like Raya and their Team are in the wrong for not trusting Naamari, even though Raya did and got stabbed in the back TWICE... yet Raya suddenly trusts this jerk to save the world?
Raya, just give your piece to Boun! He's probably the most trustworthy person in the group! And then tell Naamari that if she doesn't willingly give their piece to Boun, everyone (including the Fang Tribe) is royally screwed!
It would've been a bit more realistic of an ending...
One last thing, I get why Naamari is the way that she is and I understand that she's only looking out for her own Tribe... But it's pretty stupid and messed up that she (and also her mother, who came up with the idea) plan to basically imprison Sisu (a dragon, which is a creature that all Tribes worship/respect) so they could be the most powerful Tribe!
Then much later Naamari aims her crossbow (with her fingers right on the trigger) at Sisu, even though Sisu clearly shows no ill-intentions!
And yet Naamari thinks that Raya is half to blame for Sisu's death, cause Raya was only trying to defend her friend from the jerk that backstabbed her twice now?
Naamari and her Mom seemed to have lost all their braincells after learning Sisu has returned! XD
I'm sorry, but both Naamari and her Mom come off as unintentionally unsympathetic to me...
Raya deserves better then being forced to forgive someone that betrayed her and indirectly almost ruined her life!
