Another collaboration with =lili-yajuujo , this time an update of an older piece of mine on my old account that got a nice number of favs: [link] ...but, in that way of artists being their own worst critics, I knew I could do better.

So here's take two of a realistic Chatot! The body is based on a masked lovebird (Agapornis personata), both the normal type and the blue mutation. The inspiration for the crest came from the topknot of the California quail, the neckfeathers from those of a rooster, and the tail is redesigned based on the tailfeathers of the booted racket-tail hummingbird. Also, I fixed the toes. Parrots have zygodactyl feet (two forward, two back) and one of my biggest pet peeves is seeing them with anisodactyl feet (three forward, one back). I have weird pet peeves.
