Ruse is the offspring of Fluttershy and Discord, but they needed Twilight's magic to ensure the filly would live. When born, Ruse was sick, but after a lot of care and special medicine, she recovered pretty well, but not without long lasting affects. She's partially mute as her vocal cords had been damaged from her constant coughing, and using too much of her chaos magic will result in her getting ill again.
