It's spelled Lea but it's pronouced as Lee. I thought it was pronouced as Liah until I heard Saix call him by his real name in 358/2 Days.

If you said "Lia" wasn't written in Latin letters, then I think it is Lea. The Japanese 'i' is pronounced like what we call 'e' in English.
