THIS FAMILY TREE DOES CONTAIN SPOILERS UP TO DWD. just fyi.
UPDATED!!! I replaced Ageon with Young Griff, added Jon Snow, Lyanna, Margaery, and Loras, fixed the Baratheon words OTL, added copyright stuff so I still get credit when this is posted elsewhere... <.< and added Cersei and Jaime's last name.
Suggestions are appreciated, both for this and for any other family trees you would like to see.

Even when I read the books, a lot of the connections I missed until I did this, especially the ones that are only mentioned once.
Are you listening to the audio books? I was thinking about renting them or something, are they any good?

ohhh okay, i just caught onto the other day. I just got the auto books a few days ago and started listening to them. I love auto books! I tend to have to reread something over and over again in order to understand them, so listening to them help! Its all I get now

The Targaryens aren't really related to dragons, I don't think, but they rode dragons and were the ones that brought them to Westeros.

Martells didn't spring from them, there was just an intermarriage between the Martells a while back (Maron Martell x Daenerys Targaryen, no not that one, and his sister Myriah Martell x Daeron Targaryen). It was necessary because the Targaryen couldn't win the Dornish (led by House Martell) over by conquest, so they had to bring Dorne into the Seven Kingdoms by marriage instead, which is why Dornish rulers style themselves Prince/Princess instead of Lord/Lady like the rest of the Seven Kingdoms.

Yeah, Dany and Robert are second cousins. Kind of like how the War of the Roses was a battle of the cousins. And here's the line of succession from Aerys(well, how it should go):
* 1: Rhaegar Targaryen. Unable to succeed as he died before Aerys
* 2: Little Aegon Targaryen. Unable to succeed as Gregor Clegane did...well, do not want
* 3: Viserys Targaryen. Killed before he could claim the right to the throne
* 4: Daenerys Targaryen. The rightful heir to the throne, due to the above being dead
* 5: Robert Baratheon. Shouldn't be king until the above dies, but was anyway(though during his death, he was second in line). His successors, Joffrey and Tommen, are bastards and thus have no right to be on the throne
* 6: Stannis Baratheon. Currently second in line under Dany. However he died in Game of Thrones, so in that version of the series Dany has no competition
* 7: Renly Baratheon. Dies before Robert.
Complicating manners, Dany is sterile and unless Stannis has another child, there will be no 100% legitimate heir. Perhaps this is for the best; perhaps what Westeros doesn't need is a monarchy
