In the manga it was depicted as a small orb, like a sun, that radiated energy but dark.
When Kaiba was ready to destroy Pegasus' entire deck with his Saggi + Deck Destruction Virus of Death combo, Pegasus countered with Dark Energy. Since Saggi was now not weak enough to be infected by the virus, it was Pegasus's turn and his Super Rabbit to execute the clown with one punch.
