the gray wolf and the common raven

🐺 This art was inspired by my wild wolf encounter of #1229F in Yellowstone National Park. #1229F was a Junction Butte pack member before she left the safety of the invisible park boundary and was trapped and killed in Montana in January 2023. I am forever grateful that I was able to see her alive and thriving in April of 2022, and was able to photograph her. This art is based on a photo that I took of her where the telephoto lens makes the photo look as though a raven is riding right on top of her back. I felt it was fitting to draw it as though the raven really is perched upon the wolf, as these two species have an interesting and symbiotic relationship with one another.
