When I saw the thumb in my inbox I thought the clock-face was full of words relating to memories that the keeper was keeping.
But a clock face works just as well-a memory for each hour/minute/day/second of the year.
Also, I can't help but imagine that the triangle popped up because the keeper had an epiphany. XD Sort of like your version of a light-bulb.

Yes, it does look that way. Some of the markings on the clock face make me think of fish too. You're not too far off with the triangle. The upward pointing triangle represents fire and I put it over the birds head to show he is enlightened.
