Description As his hope of conversion went up into flame
I suspected the Dean would be shifting the blame,
For he must have resented the fall of his name
And he couldn't believe life would go on the same;
As his hopes hit the rocks where they foundered and tossed
He assumed an expression beginning to frost,
For he'd given his all without counting the cost
And I'm sure he'd believed that he couldn't have lost;
But the moment had come and the die had been cast
And the age of decorum consigned to the past,
Yet he caught my attention and held it there fast
For it didn't appear he had ventured his last;

All around me the townsmen just hadn't a care
As hilarity reigned through the whole of the square,
And they flaunted their barefeet so fine and so fair
While I thought of the laughter that soon would be there;
It was more than I'd ever expected to see
All those sensitive tootsies so ticklish and free,
Just awaiting the tickling they'd gotten from me
That was cause to be giddy, I had to agree;
That they longed for more tickling was easy to tell
And I relished the laughter I'd heard as they fell,
I was set to resume what I'd cherished so well
When I heard the Dean's voice ringing out like a bell;

"It appears that your plan has a bit of a flaw
I have yet more resources on which I can draw,
For I thought that perhaps this would be what I saw
And I took a precaution, consulting the law;
For we live by the law, from the sea to the bay
And I've gotten a writ, which I have here today,
If I gave you the choice and you still chose to play
I'm empowered to force you to do as I say;
The feet-tickling ends now as the first of your dues
And this wanton barefooting just gives me the blues,
I can't wait to see all of you do as I choose
To resume your decorum and wear all your shoes;"
