Lady Amanda of the RiverOut on her daily beat
Stopped to spy
With sharpened eye
A wildcat, trapped at her feet.
She released the little fella,
Scooped him up, in broken heap.
Lacerated fur
Then troubled her
The wound looked a bit too deep.
She took the kitten to her cottage.
The little fuzzball didn't protest.
With frequent mews
And finger chews
He knew the bandages were best.
Amanda patted his tiny head.
"I'll call you Shadow, noble sir!
Within my heart
You've done your part
To cause blundering stir!"
The kitten grew into crackin' tom,
And matured so very quick.
Teeth grew in like
Endpoint of pike
Bumpy tongue, still a gentle lick.
As far as I have heard it
The duo's still living out their days.
The years have been kind
To forest's mind;
Amanda and Shadow, safe within that maze.
