Description
Sarah and CharlieLove written in stone
Grew through the years
Matched color and tone.
They matured in age
And respect flourished still,
Sarah tended the house
Charlie, Father's mill.
Every night, beneath cool covers,
Spark would ignite within young lovers.
Sarah would hold him,
Charlie, stroke her hair
All through the night
They'd lay everything bare.
Morning would arrive
And before Sun showed his face,
Sarah would dress
In their common space.
Her slender body
And hips, smoothly carved,
She'd still feed her Charlie
Whenever he starved.
He'd show his lady comfort
Define unselfishness.
Enough to get by
Their well never ran dry
In each other, had the best.
One sunny day
The calming breeze
Picked up, and took a turn;
Floating debris
Fell carelessly
And lit silo to burn.
The mousy cat
Slipped through the boards
Escaped the raging flames.
The pain within dissonant chords
Of Charlie's scream were maimed.
Sarah never said goodbye.
His happy, smiling face
Within her heart
Would do its part
To serve as saving grace.
The second night
She lay alone
Missing his careful touch.
She'd toss and turn
Be forced to learn
How to live, without very much.
Early, at the break of day,
She rose as all the rest
Sick and pale
Weak and frail
With a slightly harder breast.
The tiny bit of food came up
Before she passed out, on the floor.
Within her womb
There had been room
A small one, to adore.
