Keep in mind that this is just a drawing ref for artists! I only touch on Jake's appearance and physiology in this since thats the main thing artists look for when drawing characters. But if you're curious to know about his personality, backstory, more art and pretty much everything else about him, just check out his weebly page! pelepia.weebly.com/jake.html (this is basically his wiki :'D)Been poking at this ref for a while and finally got to finishing it! This is Jake's drawing ref and counterpart to this: His is a bit more extensive than Plyso's since he has more clothing options which also hide more of his anatomy. Most of you probably didnt know this unless you've read his weebly page but this boy's not completely human, so now that I have this ref I can show off how freaky this kid really is haha. But a lot of all that stuff cant really be seen unless you draw him without a top or shoes on.
In case ya didnt know, Jake's one of the main characters of my series along with Plyso. Hes also on my icon here!
Also about his hair. I've tried figuring out his hair from the front for many years and I've never nailed it. So I can only assume it needed to be avoided. xD Think of it like seeing Phineas from Phineas and Ferb from the front lmao lol s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/7… It just looks wierd so feel free to improvise on that part haha.
Just an fyi btw, I usually only get picky with these details when I'm commissioning someone or trading. If you wanna draw him for fun as a gift for me or something and forget a detail dont worry about it. xD I'll be too flattered to even care hahaha
Next on the list I'll probably jump to the Dark Siders. (It'll be designed differently than these refs though :'D) I'll start with Sky first just because he's probably my most popular character atm |D

Thanks! The Toadian race usually has dark colored patterns on thier backs so Jake kinda has a lil subtle one.

Great reference, I think I've seen parts of this before on your Patreon.
On the commentary on the front of his hair, maybe Jake's hair is the same no matter what direction you look at it; kinda like the optical illusion around Mickey Mouse's ears for instance.
Anyway, great posting, I also find it interesting that he can't swim given his genetic heritage (maybe the area he lives in doesn't have a lot of water).

I think it works, and looks good overall. It's interesting that you can kinda do a test with your patreon audience and see what's working and what isn't. (At least as long as they give you feedback that is).
Indeed, honestly it's tricky showing a character from multiple angles unless you have a lot of drawings of them already; I personally try not to do it much, alternating between side views and strictly 45 degree views. (Brack being one of the only exceptions).
Ha ha ha ha, ok then. Maybe he's just not into swimming.
Anyway, great posting again, I always like seeing this character because Jake seems fun loving and humorous, I also like how he seems to be a good person overall just kinda a goof in some respects.

If the animation and timing works sometimes it doesnt hurt to leave out some frames. I often do that with the slow in slow out method. And Im glad you like him! I try to make him a fun derp haha
