Reconceptualization of Little Red Riding Hood.

In this piece the narrative takes a twist. Commonly The Wolf is the antithesis of Little red. Where the wolf is wild and dangerous, Little Red Riding hood is innocent and demure. Retranslations of the text have sought to empower Little Red. Depictions of red as an aggressor are common, fighting the stereotype that women are the height of victimization.

In this piece I look at the dichotomous nature of women who like the mythos of the werewolf are governed by monthly cycles, perhaps in sync with the moon aswell. History shows that ss women gain power often it is twisted, darkened into something occult. Here I look to embrace that. There is more malevolent strength in a Red Riding Hood who embraces the wolf, accepting the curse and becoming an enforcer for nature.

Instead of banding together with the woods man, she opposes him and embraces the wild nature of her feminity in the form of a wolf.

"Dark Riding Hood" was inspired by the theme "Opposing Forces". showing a mixture of innocence and blood thirst.

work was done in Photoshop CS 4 sporadically over the span of a week.
