Description
I beat my White a couple of days ago. I must say I love that game. Personally I think it's one of the best Pokemon games out there. Those who don't like the new generation and refuse to give it a try, I think you should try it anyway, you migth be surprised. When I started the game there were a lot of pokemon I didn't even sneeze at but now many of them are suprisingly nice.Especially the ones in my awesome team!
This is the team I beat the E4 with.
Sarosh (Samurott) - male - I picked Oshawott as my starter and I never regretted it. Sarosh hits hard although he isn't the fastest. However, he has never let me down and I can always count on him.
Castor (Zebstrika) - male - Holy. Shit. What can I say? Castor is one of my most reliable - if not the most reliable - battler. He's damn fast and his electric attacks always hit the target with a massive amount of damage. When Castor was still a Blitzle I wondered if he was really worth raising - and then he evolved. Castor has definitely proven himself and deserves the spot in the team.
Arathorn (Haxorus) - male - Originally I caught an Axew because I wanted a dragon type until I caught a Deino. However, Arathorn never left the team. His massive attack stat and awesome moves quaranteed the spot in the team. I really like Haxorus and Arathorn is one top Pokemon.
Pandora (Carracosta) - female - I got Pandora accidentally. I intended on getting an Archen because he could learn Fly but I kept pressing A until I got the other fossil. I hadn't saved for a while so I though I'd just settle with that. I planned to box the Tirtouga I received but when I was Pandora the first time I completely fell in love. Tirtouga is one of the most adorable pokemon there is! (sea turtles ftw!) So Pandora stayed. I really, really love her and her huge physical power.
Astaroth (Volcarona) - male - Now this is the pokemon I wanted to have since the first time I saw the sprite. Volcarona is inevitably one of the coolest, most beautiful and most awesome pokemon there is. Astaroth (I spent half an hour trying to figure out a name for him) was awesome when he hatched from his egg. Even as a Larvesta he was very powerful - and so cute as well! When Astaroth finally evolved I was so happy, I finally had my very own Volcarona! Astaroth's Special Attack needs to be praised, it's monstrous. Not only is Astaroth one of the coolest pokemon he is also one of the strongest pokemon I've known. I love him.
And the last but not the least
Shiegtur (Hydreigon) - male - Training Shiegtur was a real pain in the ass. Deino was, to put it simple, useless. Luckily Audino prowide great exp. ridiculously easily and Shiegtur grew up fast. He was fully evolved when I challenged the E4 and I think he could've taken them all by himself if I let him to. Ghestis was a joke, he didn't stand a chance. It took me some time to realize that those two other heads are actually Hydreigon's hands. The degisn is still cool and the type, oh, the type, is the definition to awesome. Dark/dragon. Oh love. Shiegtur is awesome. He's still stronger than anyone else although I've trained them all. If nothing goes as planned, he's always there to help me out, I can always trust him.
There, my lovely team! I though they deserved a proper picture, they're all so awesome.
I'm currently grinding for Cynthia. I got a heart attack when I was randomly barging in people's houses and ran into her. Luckily I didn't have to battle her right away, and now I'm avoiding that house until my pokemon are strong enough.
Just you wait, bitch, you're going down very soon!
Oh, and tell me if the picture is too dark. Laptop screen really isn't ideal for adjusting contrasts.

Nah, they have two lightning like horns on their head.
I have a Zenstrika too, a female one. I went through what you did, as a Blitzle it was tough but the training turned out to be so worth it because as a Zebstrika she is just so reliable!!

Damn, that's one kickass team! I think I should've chosen Oshawott, really; but my Snivy did make the game more of a challenge, having to teach more strategic moves rather than just my usual sweeper tactics. Zebstrika, indispensable; fast as hell and good attack to boot. And then Haxorus; holy shit Haxorus... Talk about armed and dangerous. Soon as my Fraxure evolved, he became the star player. I never did train myself a Hydreigon, but I made do with my Zoroark. Though, the fact that it only learns physical dark type attacks, and its special attack is by far much better, was a bit of a hassle. But wherever Zoroark failed, I had my Krookodile to step in and finish the job. Now here's something I never thought I'd actually capture and train to take on the League: Swanna. But holy crap was it worth it. It kicks Pelliper ass across the floor. But, I can't believe it; I went this whole game without a Fire type. That's a first for me.
My Team overview would be this;
Cazar (Male, Serperior)
Zeus (Male, Zebstrika)
Slash (Male, Krookodile)
Orpheus (Male, Zoroark)
Arielle (Female, Swanna)
Tiberius (Male, Haxorus)
---
Overall, you made really great choices in your team, and I am very much impressed with them, as well as this amazing drawing. Lots of props going to ya' here, epic faved.

Sorry for taking so long to reply!
I had hard time deciding whether to pick Oshawott or Snivy as my starter. Both Serperior and Samurott are really cool and all. I bought both Black and White versions so I could try both starters without erasing the saved data.
Your team sounds awesome as well. I still haven't got a Zorua (I have Celebi and shiny Suicune but I can't transfer them :/) but I've heard Zoroark is awesome. I did have a Krookodile in my White, though, but I boxed it at some point because I wanted to try other Pokemon, too. I think I should try to train a Swanna, too. You made them sound very awesome. Also, I really like swans so it would actually be good.
Anyway, thank you very much!

Oh, pay it no heed; I myself can be not so punctual with my replies. Especially the longer ones.
The interesting thing was, out of me, my girlfriend, and my best friend; us three chose different starters. My girlfriend chose Tepig, and my friend chose Oshawott. Dare I say it was rather interesting, as none of us really corresponded about who we might choose.
At any rate, yeah; my team was quite good despite being flooded by dark types lending a consistent bug and fighting type weakness almost fully across the board. Once I got my Zoroark Night Burst or Dark Pulse, Psychic, Focus Blast, and a filler move, he was a damn force to be reckoned with. A Swanna was a BRILLIANT investment; it served to fly and surf, and its stats are set to make it a mixed sweeper. (Both attack and Special Attack are the same in final turnout), and it has quite the move pool.
But wholly, you are very welcome! It is my pleasure to comment!

I actually bred my Axew and Fraxure so I could train up a Haxorus from base, and holy crap that attack stat. Working on training a deino of my own (from egg just like my Haxorus)

Breeding pokemon would've actually been better than training the wild pokemon but I didn't think about that. Anyway, I raised my Volcarona from an egg and that thing is totally beastly.

Also, i just figured out that raising a pokemon to a high level using the exp share is the same as using rare candies. It doesn't add effort values or what not from actually fighting pokemon. But just as an example of Haxorus being awesome when egg raised, it's attacks stat at level 63 is 212 or higher. I also just started using my lucky egg. it is amazing.

ShadeofShinon In reply to blu-hell-smith [2011-03-28 18:58:40 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, that's quite unfortunate. However, I'm too lazy to raise low level pokemon if the rest of my team has much higher levels so I usually just stick an Exp. Share to them.
Lucky Egg is one of the best items introduced in the 5th gen, it's so useful!

join in with this, your team fits well and its a damn good bit of work - [link]
also I'm on my second run through of white and have pretty much the same team currently! - got an Excadrill instead of Zebstrika and no Carracosta
I'd definately back up the bit about giving the new gen a try, they've changed the games a bit, made them slightly harder (was horribly underlevelled and I didn't expect Ghestis 1st time) but a lot more fun in my opinion

Excadrill sounds like an awesome pokemon. I would've trained one myself if I already didn't have trouble choosing pokemon for my team in White, though. Well, I can cet one in my Black version instead. :>
I think it's very good they made those changes, although I was slightly disappointed when pokemon n longer took damage from poisoning when walking, haha. Those changes made it more exciting to play the new games. :>

Excadrills really strong and it's typing balances the others pretty well, I can't stand Samurott personally - it's a physical attacker but learns more special moves and is a bit too slow for my liking, wish I'd chosen Snivy again

I beat Cynthia today. I thought about grinding my team to lvl 70 but in the end I only grinded my Volcarona to lvl 70. The rest were roughly around 65 and I thought "screw this" and challenged Cynthia. And won. I was horrified when the battle music started but when my Vlcarona sweeped almost the whole team I couldn't help but laugh. Really, Cynthia? My moth OHKO'd your Garchomp, Spiritomb and Lucario and finished off your Eelektross. My Zebstrika took care of Braviary and Milotic, OHKO'ing both. Hydreigon was unlucky and fainted due to a critical dragon claw but Cynthia didn't stand a chance afterall, haha!
Excadrill indeed seems like an interesting pokemon but I already had a lot of difficulties with choosing the pokemon for my team. I've thought about trying to get one in my upcoming Nuzlocke run, though.

Wait, really?!
Goodness, I was thinking on waiting till mine were all around 72 or so, because of how there are more sandstorm-based pokemon and that Milotic scares me(My team's composed of Crookodile, Excadrill, Gigalith, Golurk, Samurott, and Haxorus) but if a Volcarona did all of that, then I'm going to be paying more attention to my Seraphim!(larvesta)
My Crookodile isn't the greatest thing in the world, I guess he's going to be boxed then.
Jeez, you're pulling one of those? Nuzlocke's are wierd, in my opinion.
Eh, whatever, thanks for the knowledge, though

Considering your team has a lot of pokemon that are weak to water Milotic sure seems to be a big thread. Grass Knot on Samurott would be useful. Mine knows it and it's pretty good. Not as good as on Empoleon but a good option, I think.
Volcarona can kick ass, especially if you manage to set up many Quiver Dances.
Nuzlocke Challenge may seem weird, I agree, but I wanted a new aspect to the games after playing the games so many times.

CXZecoatl In reply to ShadeofShinon [2011-03-30 23:05:30 +0000 UTC]
New addition to that team is a Zoroark in replacement of the Golurk, and an Archeops in place of the Gigalith.
I didn't know that Samurott can learn grass knot, that's a pretty handy piece of information, especially considering how heavy Milotic's are.
Empoleon is a fun Pokemon, because of it's typing, I gotta say, and now that my Volcarona is at 65, I can agree with you that is made of amazing. Only problem in there is when a Hurricane user or a water pokemon comes along, just as you said.
Gosh, I'm starting to loathe water types...

Empoleon's typing indeed is very interesting. Some people say it's pretty bad but I disagree. Empoleon's awesome.
Yeah, water and electric types are a threat but luckily I have my Zebstrika to take care of them. So far I've had no problems with my Volcarona.

CXZecoatl In reply to ShadeofShinon [2011-03-30 23:53:17 +0000 UTC]
Zoroark is a fast little sucker that sweeps opponents pretty well, I gotta say. However, because of the lack of truely powerful attacks that it can receive STAB from, you gotta train it up fast with a few stat boosters to get proper results.
I'm not that big of an electric-type enthusiast(I did NOT get White for Zekrom, lemme tell ya.) and Zebstrika did not appeal to me in the least, but just because I have now had a Blitzle planted in the daycare center for a long time, can you tell me how it works for you?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
ShadeofShinon In reply to CXZecoatl [2011-04-15 20:28:25 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I've heard Zoroark doesn't get too good STAB moves. But if I ever get one, I'll keep your tipr in mind.
I'm not a big fan of electrict types either, but I think it's good to have one (or someone with electric type attacks) in the team for type coverage.
I'm not an expert at training pokemon (I've just recently familiarized myself with EV/IV training and such) but I think Zebstrika is a nice pokemon. It's damn fast and has high attack stat. Also, it can learn some nice moves.

Naw, the picture's fine, thanks. And I must say it's the most epic team I've seen. I think the best feature is the textures on Sarosh and Shiegtur. The fur texture in particular reminded me that Samurott is, in fact, closer to an otter than a fish.
Funny...I've got a Carracosta (named Nado), too. Other than that, they're different...but I'm getting close to getting a Hydreigon (named Zorothe). I named most of my party after my OC's. The other members are a male Serperior named Viktor; a female Scoliopede named Urchin; a female Mienshao named Luusar; and a female Eelektross named Telsa. But I don't expect my team to stay like this, because I'm practically obsessed over getting a Zorua...somehow. >: <
Have you tried fighting Cynthia yet? If not, she's got pretty much the same bunch as in Platinum - Spiritomb, Lucario, Garchomp, and Milotic; but she's added an Eelektross and a Braviary to her arsenal. They're all level 75, except for her level-77 Garchomp. And Cynthia's as tough as ever.

I'd so like to get a Serperior, Mienshao and Scolipede. I had a Scolipede but I boxed it because I wanted to try other Pokemon, too. Well, I always have my Black version but I'm planning on Nuzlocking it so it's up to my luck if I get a Scolipede or a Mienshao.
I fought Cynthia ages ago. My team was severely underleveled because I was too lazy to grind. I don't remember much of the battle, really, except that my Volcarona put up a nice amount of Quiver Dances and OHKO'd pretty much everything. The Garhomp was OHKO'd by a critical Bug Buzz. :> Cynthia has never really been a pain for me but I'm still a little afraid to battle her. She is tough, there's no denying it.
