Summary: Gully is an eclectic tom, as one often is when living an isolated life in a dangerous environment. Though his slim, pretty form would suggest otherwise, he is a tough, capable cat who has survived the Wastes this long, and doesn't intend to bite it any time soon, not when he has Spiral-diral to look after. Dutiful, and stubborn to a fault, Gully refuses to leave Spiral's side under any circumstance, keeping his friend from harm wherever he can and cracking awkward, shitty jokes all the while. While he takes jokes at his expense in stride, he's a rather arrogant cat who is vain about not only his looks, but everything about himself, calling himself "Gully the Greatest Pilgrim" even though he never rose higher than Initiate status. Over time, he's become a tad unhinged, the Calamity having partially broken his mind, though he remains adamantly upbeat through everything.

Personality Traits:
{ Arrogant }
Though he often proves himself to be selfless and caring, at least when it comes to Spiral, Gully is a bit haughty. He thinks highly of himself, his philosophies, his status as a (now ex-) Pilgrim, and, of course, his beautiful silky fur and pretty face. He becomes a bit snooty when faced with talk of the beliefs of former Clan-cats, and outright disdainful at the mention of Way-followers.
{ Awkward }
While he doesn't mean to be, Gully often comes across as slightly awkward. No one can deny that he's friendly and positive, but his occasional mumbling is a bit uncomfortable, as are his ever-growing list of nonsensical monikers, and his plethora of jokes and puns often fall flat.
{ Compassionate }
Through all of his arrogance and stubbornness, Gully cares. A lot. He puts his all into upholding the well-being of another, even at the avoidance of his own problems and pains. While the current, sole target of his compassionate nature is Spiral, he's always been one to volunteer a helping hand and upbeat friendship to those in need.

When Gully decides that it's his duty to do something or act a certain way, that's that. He cannot be swayed from that course of action, and he will remain loyal to his duties, which as of right now, includes protecting Spiral from harm and keeping his spirits up.

Gully is infuriatingly stubborn. Even if something is detrimental to his life and safety, he will stick to it religiously rather than abandon his choices. This is most apparent in his adamance to stick with Spiral and his refusal to go to Safe Haven simply because Spiral wouldn't be able to go with, even though remaining in the Wastes is undoubtedly a death sentence.

One doesn't survive the Wastes without Haven's power for years straight by being weak. He can and has weathered terrible conditions and met foes much more powerful than him, and is still alive and well enough to crack another joke. He's clever as the devil, twice as pretty, and three times harder to get rid of. It's gonna take more than an apocalypse to get rid of this Pilgrim.
{ Unhinged }
Gully is a bit off his rocker. He's always been a tad odd, but his craziness has absolutely increased over the course of the Calamity and the years after. Sometimes he'll seem quite out of it, as if he's living in a world inside his own mind, and he'll often talk to himself about nothing at all. Depending on who you ask, it may be a good thing-- without that eccentricity to shield his mind from the crushing despair of the dark, cold world, he may have died or given up long ago.

Build: He has a slim, elegant build and long legs that leave him standing taller than the average cat. Being underfed, he lacks in muscle, but what bulk he does have indicates a svelte figure with lean muscle.

Scars and Disabilities: He has a crescent-shaped scar across his back, but no other visible scars.

Accessories: Around his neck is an elaborate, collar that once held a Vessel of Light. Alongside this collar hangs a quartz-string necklace holding a topaz crystal, gifted to him by Spiral after the loss of his Vessel.

M I N D - S E T
Habits:  Gully keeps his fur perfectly groomed despite his living conditions, going to great lengths to appear clean and pristine. He will often mutter to himself when left to his own thoughts, usually parts of the Oath of Light or incomprehensible ramblings.

Fears: Failing to keep Spiral safe.

Dreams/Goals: He aspires to one day help Spiral love himself and find happiness. For now, he'll settle for an occasional smile or laugh from the other tom.

B A C K S T O R Y
When the Calamity struck, Gully was lucky to find himself away from the Isle with a group of Pilgrims travelling to a nearby Knight outpost. He was, however, unlucky to find himself surrounded by compatriots turning into monsters as the very earth split around them. In the panic of some friends being slaughtered by other friends turned dark, Gully only had time to wrench one Pilgrim away from Ashen claws, an Earth-Brother named Erastus. He dragged the tom away as their comrades met their ends, unable to do anything for them.
  Shaken with guilt over the loss of the rest of the group, it became Gully's goal help the other survivor, and he stubbornly stuck by the Earth-Brother's side, offering him every comfort and encouragement and bit of protection he could. It was a thankless job; Erastus looked down on the cat who had saved him. Despite Gully's desperate efforts to look after his unwilling companion, Erastus eventually met his end and Gully was left alone. He refuses to speak of his former companion or the circumstances of his death. Soon after, he heard the Call beckoning survivors to Safe Haven, and he set off in that direction. Gully never quite made it to Safe Haven. After the defeat of Nicholas, he had begun to draw close, but he happened across a grey tom named Spiral, an exile from Safe Haven. Though the promise of safety was closer than ever before, his meeting of Spiral set into motion a new sense of duty within Gully. He couldn't keep Erastus alive, but now he had the chance to try again with Spiral. Despite emotionally jarring events like the breaking of his Vessel, Spiral's tumble down the Edge of the World, and his own death, he is still wandering the Wastes with the exile, working to help Spiral and himself survive.

Sample: The flame-point tom's forced smile slowly fell as he felt the weight of the topaz resting against his chest and he dipped his chin down to look at it, lifting it to his face with a paw. "Spiral..." he murmured, brows knitted as his gold eyes peered down at the amber shine of the crystal. He swallowed hard, at a loss for words as he took a shuddering inhale of air. "I..." His grey companion was a sad, sad tom. He was the one who needed encouragement and support, and Gully was supposed to be the one giving it. Yet here he was, sitting in front of him, speaking gentle words and giving him the only possession he'd had when Gully had found him. It must have been important, and Spiral was giving it to him... "You're right, tears don't look good on this pretty face," he lifted his head, meeting his friend's green gaze with a grin, hesitant but genuine as he wiped his paws under his eyes in an attempt to rid his face of the evidence of his breakdown. "Look at us. I'm crying over a rock, and you swoop in to be my savior. I swear that was supposed to be my job," he teased, his voice slowly climbing back up to its peppy norm.
