She had stood there for hours, the conversion helmet bombarding her long since pliant mind with a steady torrent of instructions. At first there was the occasional twitch of pain as resistant thoughts were broken down and burned out of her, but that gradually gave way to standing at motionless attention, her soft breaths the only movement visible on her nude form.

With little warning, she raised both of her hands, lifting the lit visor away from her face. It settled into place with a soft click, her now violently glowing eyes and their empty gaze steadfast in front of her. Her empty voice, made hollow and distant by her lack of emotion, began to speak:

“We have been made one with the core consciousness. This form will comply with any and all core directives. The core has perfected us. The core must be served. The core will grow.”
