water color. the paper is warped cause of the water. the skin is wonky cause there's no such thing as a good skin-tone for watercolors. this was an attempt at a realistic style X3 what do you think?axel (c) square-enix
EDIT PLZ READ: okay...after a fair amount of bickering over this picture, I was about ready to take it down. But upon reflection, its MY picture and I'm going to draw axel any damn way I like. Yes, I realize that the proportions are a bit distorted and there's definite room for improvement. This I am ok with. I am, after all, and artist. Art, as far as Im concerned, is not something that can be perfected, but we always work towards improving it.
On a second note: Axel is a video-game character drawn in an anime-esque style. Anime is definitely not realistic and obviously Axel isn't rendered thus. I attempted to depict Axel in way *I* (note the I) thought he might look like if I saw him walking down the street. I did not draw him with the thoughts in my head that he might be attractive. I know its hard not to imagine Axel as an overly-attractive J-rocker/night walker bishie from the depths of pretty-ville. The Axel I drew was based off of a model I found in a magazine. So, Im sorry if my drawing does not live up to your standards, but in the end, I don't really care.

im sorry that some people are so insecure that they have to say mean things to people theyve never met...this picture is so ethereal, and the lighting is breathtaking...dont let some stranger whose only input is useless garbage affect you at all.

Come now, Amber, it's actually a good picture.
Sure, some things may looks a little odd, but realism's tough, and the artist did well. I like the lips, and the colouring on the skin is superb!
So put your fangirlish opinions aside and just accept that even though it may not make Axel look 'bishouneny', it's still a good picture.

Holy Shi- Calm down there tiger, first off woah woah since when did she state that she wanted your destructive opinion? For once, Axel isnt hte yoai boy everyone portrays him to be, yeah yeah whoopie go whine to your little fan girls mm? Take your stereotypical sideways rectangular Opinions and shove it to your Neko Neko Nyan Nyu ways.
If all you were going to say was that, then it wasnt needed. If you knew it was going to upset the artist, then you shouldnt have said it. Part of me died after seeing how inconsiderate you were, and then I remembered, "Oh! thats right, its just another fangirl."

Well the day that you see a real life axel go ahead and let me know I would love to visit him so that I can tell her specific reasons that this looks not like axel. Every person in the world could draw realistic axel and it wouldnt look a thing like him. It would have specific details but it wouldnt be him.

If your going to go critique someone so harshly for their interpretation of Axel being NOTHING like yours you might as well get started with the other thousands of millions who's axels look nothing like your minds eye.

if someone wanted to draw something that looked like axel realistically he'd have details the real axel does. like he would have a thin fave and have a his chin wouldn't be so obtrusive. i'll say this, i'm sorry for sounding like such an ass. i am a fangirl so my views are slightly distorted. but even if i wasn't and this was just a picture of some guy i still would think it lacks porportion and well, attractivness. the fact remains. i do not think it's a good picture. the nose is great and the colouring is good too. but the eyes are too small and the chin is too large and too prominent.

Stylistically you are not one to critique sweetheart, Shadow-Piper has gotten some good critique before but like you said your nothing but a fangirl their for your views are fairly pointless. Everything needs to either look the same as a pretty bishounen boy otherwise its not right. I will agree that the picture could be improved, but improvement comes with constructive critique- not destructive which is exactly what your doing.
