Description Base colors without modifiers or dilutions.
Recessive gene requires a pair to be expressed.
Dominant gene only requires a single.

Black E
A dominant gene. Black can sometimes appear brown as long sun exposure fades the color.

Chestnut ee
Recessive gene.

Blue bb
Recessive gene. Sometimes mistaken for blue roan, but lacks the black points and does not share a black base.

Ivory L
Dominant gene. Sometimes called white, ivory can vary from tan to sandy to white. Sometimes mistaken for cream but lacks a dilution.

Albino ww
Recessive gene. An albino centaur lacks pigmentation with white fur and pink skin. These centaurs often have poor eyesight and frail hooves.

All base genes occupy the same place on a chromosome thus a horse can only gave a pair and may only one base color at a time.
Examples:
Ee - black
Eb - black
EL - 50% chance of black or Ivory expressed.
Ew - black

eb- 50% chance of chestnut or blue expressed
eL - Ivory

Albino  can only be expressed if a centaur has a pair and not if another recessive gene is present.
Example:

ew - chestnut
bw - blue
