History of Centura

Centura does not originate from Edarus. The continent appeared on Edarus years ago after a convergence event when two realms crossed over each other. Aligning in the process. The sea of Dross and a small island country were all whisked away to an unknown world as it traded places with Centura.

The virgin land was quickly set upon by the world powers. Becdon and the Empyrian Empire occupying large swaths of territory, quickly establishing colonies and military fortifications. Igniting a war over the natural resources that lasted many years. The final confrontation ending in the Empire’s loss to a united front of Becdon and the Free Dominion. Signing of the treaty resulting in the freeing of many Demi-species kept by the Empire as property.

This included the Centuri, also known as centaurs for their tendency to hunt large bull or bison like creatures on the plains. The original wild centaurs are said to be gone. Driven to extinction by the capture and selling by other countries. Today those that now freely roam the plains are believed to be either mixed with domesticated breeds or simply feral releases.

The dominant sentient species of the continent were the Centuri though they had yet to advance past the Stone Age. Putting them at a major disadvantage against the world powers. Some wild untouched herds still live the ways of their ancestors. While others, used to domestication, make their homes in cities and villages.

It is obvious Centura originates from another realm. Though its landscape, flora and fauna share many similarities with those of Edarus, they originate from a hexapedal ancestor rather than a quadrupedal one. Most all the fauna of Centura bearing six limbs.

Much of Centura is dominated by vast savannas and plains. Few trees dotting the scape with thick ancient forests like islands in a sea of grassland. A large canyon dividing the east and west. The land is fertile and rich in ore, magical and otherwise. Large rocky spires created by powerful winds in the Howling Spines and Crags can make travel by sea difficult. The Crags themselves being near impassible by large watercraft.

Few active volcanos are documented with the largest being that of Black Rock Island. The rugged cliffs and sands being made almost entirely of lava rock. A small Rift Well lies between the smoky peaks of Black Rock. Making it rich in Rift Ore but adding to the island’s already dangerous mountains.

Though the volcanos in all their glory are impressive. None can compare to power of the slumbering super volcano hidden under Lonely Island. The waters of Sunken Lake filling the old caldera. The super volcano might be slumbering currently but the peak of Lonely Island is alive with the glow of a large Rift Well. Perhaps having been torn open by the devastating eruption of Sunken Lake, or perhaps being the catalyst. Thankfully for Edarus Sunken Lake erupted long ago in Centura’s history and currently showing no signs activity.

Hot springs dot the small island and surrounding land. However exploring the island is difficult for researchers as it is holy land for the Centuri and the location of an Alter of Worship. Believing to belong to a nature god of the Centuri. Officially the island is off limits to civilians. Being classified as protected Fae territory. Not just too safe guard the Fae but also protecting would be explorers from falling victim to the Leshy. A particularly territorial species of Fae.

Currently no Titans have been discovered on Centura. Neither slumbering below ground or a corpse laid over the lands. However much titatherium ore has been found in few places, hinting at a potential den location as the ore only forms in the presence of a titan. The heavy magical aura of the titan seeping out as it slumbers, bleeding into the surroundings and forming the crystalline ore. Similar to how the magic pouring out of Rift Wells affects its surrounding land.
