Description

Hello! I'm still alive and I want to share this idea I have. Also yeah, its been sometime since I last posted but, hey I'm back.

Okay. So, I have been working, thinking, imagining, and… well just imagining really. I have this concept of a story, not fully complete, just a half, or a quarter of an idea on how the story would go.

Basically Yami, Dagger, Crimson, and the new nameless oc, Gambit are dimensional travelers, trying to find a way to free their mentor/father figure, Atral. If you guys read Atral’s lore then you would know he resides on an island somewhere in the oceans, the island is also very rare to come by, or sometimes can’t be found at all. Since these oc’s don’t really have a backstory yet, this would be like half of that backstory.

So, Concept 1. Atral’s island: In the lore I wrote, the island never had anything going on with it, just that its Atral’s home and he lives there. Then I remembered that, Atral never did leave the island only when someone made a contract with him. So, from that I have an idea that, maybe at some point in Atral’s life he got cursed and was force to be trap on that island, and was only allowed to go out only when, just I said before, an outsider makes a contract with him. But it has limits, if he failed to fulfill the contract he would be force back to the island, making the island his home and prison. So, he can roam free, but he also must finish the contract, otherwise he would face consequences. It’s still not complete, I’m still thinking on how that works. As to who or what cursed Atral, I think I’ll keep it as a mystery.

Atral’s Island pt2, the island is alive: Okay so, this one is very confusing and I’m still not fully sure how this would work but the main premise is that, the island and Atral have a symbiotic relationship (I know it doesn’t make sense but bear with it for a now). So again, at some point in Atral’s life he was force to remain on the island forever, now here is where it gets more confusing, the island is connected to Atral’s life force, or Atral’s life force is connected to the island? I don’t know again it still a working progress, but imagine the gems in Steven Universe, the island is Atral’s gem, basically as long as the island still stand so would Atral, if the island dies, he dies, making Atral immortal as long as the island remain standing. The island needs Atral to keep maintaining it, basically Atral is the island’s caretaker, and Atral needs the island to keep himself alive, and in return the island will choose a visitor (those who would make a contract with him) to get wash up on its shore so that Atral could go out and explore. This also somewhat explains why the island is hard to find or rare to come by in the oceans because, the island picks its visitor, which means no person would just randomly come by the island by accident or while they were exploring, the island itself will decide if it wants you to come ashore.

Concept 2. The island is its own dimension: Okay, it will be confusing from here on out. So, in Atral’s lore, I wrote how he appeared in every mythology Norse, Greek, and Egypt. Well in my head, the island doesn’t reside inside one dimension, instead it resides in somewhere between realms. Imagine the world tree from Norse mythology, each branch is connected to a world/dimension, the island is kind of like that but, not at the same time? The world tree is always connected to each world, the island is not. In the lore, I wrote how the island is isolated from the world, well now, I mean it literally. The island is separated and isolated from any known dimension, the island is its own dimension, the island is its own world. It’s hard to explain but, basically in that dimension, in that world, Atral and the island are the only lifeforms that reside in it, nothing else, just them. So, it’s kind of like a dimensional prison, in a way?

Concept 3. Gateway: So, how would Atral be able to appear in different mythology? So again, the island chooses who would come ashore on it. As to how that works, well, the island would make a wormhole or a small dimensional rift. Those openings are the gateways. The island would connect to a dimension of its choosing, create a small gateway somewhere in the ocean, and that is how Philoi from “The Unknown Anomaly” got wash ashore on the island. And that is how Atral goes from realm to realm.

Concept 4. Atral is an Anomaly: In the lore, I wrote how even the Moirai’s from Greek mythology, have no knowledge on Atral. I got this idea from Genshin Impact. So, whenever Atral visits a world or dimension, he will not have a present in it (it’s still a working progress and might change in the future) or the world can’t register him as a part of that world. For example, if a human travels into another dimension, the world would still register them as a human, or a mortal depending on what world the person traveled to, the fates of that world would also be able to manipulate or predicts that person’s fate because, even if they are from another dimension, their structure are still similar to its human inhabitants, so even though they didn’t originate from that world, the world will still consider them as a mortal/human. Now how does Atral come in to play, well if you already know, it’s because, well… I don’t know either, I haven’t really work on that yet, but what I do have is that, Atral’s structure is to different and foreign that the world/dimension can’t figure out where to place him. In the lore, I said Atral was not a mortal, demigod, gods, legendary hero, or some other divine being, because he isn’t, which is why the world consider Atral a foreign presence or an anomaly. As to what Atral is, well I think I’ll leave that as a mystery too.

Concept 5. The symbols and Runes: I’m going to assume you saw my recent illustration, and in that illustration, there are 4 symbols or runes. The reason for their existent is because I wanted to give Atral’s tattoos a meaning, during that time I started forming bits and pieces of Atral’s origin but not completely because I decided that Atral’s origin will forever be a mystery. But anyway, I imagine that Atral was from a former civilization that was now destroyed or forgotten from some unknown reasons, leaving him the only survivor, maybe the one that cursed him was the one responsible for it. But anyways, his tattoos or symbols are kind of like trophies, each runes symbolize the accomplishments the person did, and would then be branded into their skin to show off. As to what their meaning is, I have yet to make one, but the skull means, death (no surprise), tenacity, and ferocity (might change it in the future), and the weird flame emblem looking thing means, magic, arcane, and knowledge.

Now for the 4 other oc’s (Yami, Crimson, Dagger, and Gambit), I said this would be like their backstory, not their full story, but still. The story I came up with is that, some tragic event happened when they were young causes them to get wash ashore on Atral’s, island, the island probably took pity on them and decided to bring them in to give Atral some company and a chance to experience to be a father (Since he will never have that experience, ever). As to what those tragic events is, I have yet to come up with them but, Gambit I already have one for him. It’s pretty dark so be warned.

Gambits origin summary: His mother was a young girl going to college, at some point she was blackmailed by a teacher, aka Gambit’s father what happens next, I’ll leave it to your imagination. Time skip, a few months later, she started having symptoms of pregnancy, and since I decided she will have depression and guilt for what the teacher did, she decided to drown herself and the baby in the ocean. Atral’s island saw this and wanted the unborn baby to at least have a chance to live and decided to save to unborn infant alongside a dying dog, that would be used to help the baby (because I’m that messed up). Atral was just walking down the beach when he saw a dead woman with a big belly and a barely alive dog. Atral took a moment to silently questions the island (and my mental health) before going towards the bodies. He senses that the child inside was still alive but was barely clinging, he turned to the dog, and saw that he too was barely clinging to life. He sensed that the dog had a rough life (because, why not) and decided to give him a painless death and use the remaining energy from the dog to revive the unborn child, after he tore open the belly. Years later Gambit came to be.

The others, probably have a similar origin on how they end up on the island but that’s when I finally come up with them, anyways. Atral would raise them as his own, teaching them everything they would need to know when they leave the island, because Atral doesn’t want them to be stuck with him on the island when they could have a better life outside of it because, its Atral’s prison, not theirs. But like any other parents, Atral was reluctant to let them go and so he took care of them when they reach their teens. One day he revealed to them why he was not allowed to leave the island, but he didn’t say who or what cursed him. After hearing this, Dagger, Yami, and Crimson all decided to leave the island to find a way to free their adopted father, but Atral would have been happier if they instead just live their lives, of course they didn’t want that and they decided to find the person who cursed Atral, Gambit stayed since he was still young at the time.

The three left, after they learned how to travel between dimensions, in a hope to find the being who cursed their father. Gambit who was very young at the time was playing near a cliff, when he suddenly found himself way too close to the edge and fell, Atral tried to save him but was too late, he dove into the waters where Gambit fell to, but when he was in the water his youngest son was nowhere to be found. Gambit would then find himself somewhere in New York, but because I said so, Gambit would already know how to survive on his owns, and the people he would meet would describe him as very mature and intelligent for someone his age. Years later living in New York he would later meet a boy with black hair and green eyes, who loves the color blue. Atral would remain on the island without ever knowing the fate of his youngest son.

And as to where the other three ended up, well it depends on what anime/tv series/video games, or any kind of media fiction I’m into. Rereading this, I realize this is mostly Atral’s concept, and the other 4 oc’s only have like a small amount compared to him.

That’s the current concept but I might change it in the future, there are still things I wanted to add but, I’ll leave it as it is. I just wanted to share this idea of mine, and it was just in my head, existing and I decided to put it in here. That’s all, hope you thought this was an interesting concept, and bye.
