Description The Hunt

The cool, crisp night breeze brushed up against a young man's face as he was walking down the narrow sidewalk on Evergreen drive, with a person a long side him. The boy's name was James, and he was very confused. He didn't know exactly what had happened to him, and, to be frank, he didn't have the slightest idea who he was walking with. All he knew was that the person was female, she had rather long, dark hair, had the most vivid bright emerald eyes he had ever seen, and that she was rather strict and serious. James also knew that this girl, whoever she was, had saved him from near death. He didn't know how she had done it, but James was somewhat thankful to her.
To get the girls attention, James stopped waking and looked down. The girl stopped as well and looked back at him.
"What is it, boy?" she said sharply.
"I have a name you know!" The girl raised an eyebrow in false curiosity.
"Oh you do? Then please tell me," she said with a tone of sarcasm.
"It's James, and I-I want to know, what happened to me? Who are you? The girl let out a sigh and walked over to James.
"My name is Megan, and to go further into your question, I'm not human," Megan said to a stunned James.
"Then wh-what are you?"
"I'm a vampire." James gasped his eyes wide with fear and shock. Megan chuckled softly to his reaction and walked closer to James. She poked him in the chest with her index finger and moved her face closer to his. This made James feel really uncomfortable and he tried to move his head away, but she grabbed his chin and held onto it firmly.
"As for your other question, you got tangled into a fight with another one of my kind and got injured badly. You where just in the wrong place at the wrong time. But a few sacrifices had to be made in order for you to live." Megan's breath tickled his face and when she smiled, James could clearly see the sharp pointed fangs.
"W-what sort of sacrifices?" James stuttered, he was scared, and Megan could smell it. Megan laughed, her bright green closed in gleeful yet cruel humor.
"What I mean is your not human anymore, you're like me."
James felt his heart sink down to his feet as the sick reality hit him in the face. He was a Vampire... Megan stood there and studied his face, the boy looked shocked but there were more feelings underneath. Sadness, anguish, longing, and fear, thee where just a few of the emotions Megan could sense.
"What are you going to do now, boy? Run, scream, just stand there forever, or how bout' you learn to accept life and move on?"
James looked down; Megan could tell he was in deep thought. She turned away with a grin and chuckled softly. "You humans think way too much," she said while walking away. But then, Megan suddenly stopped. The breeze that caught her face only a moment before brought with it, a new scent. Her eyes widened as an idea hit her.
"Get down!" Megan quickly dashed back to James, grabbed him, and shoved him behind a bush.
"Hey! What was that fo-" Megan put a finger over her lips, silencing James, then pointed up to a tree above them, signaling for them to climb up the oak. And he obeyed.
Once they had reached a branch that gave them a clear view of the sidewalk below them, they settled down a little.
"What was all that about?'' James said to Megan.
"Shhh, someone's coming," Megan said sharply whispered to him.
"But I don-," He was cut short by the sound of footsteps coming closer. He could tell from the sound that they belonged to a man, an adult possibly.
"When he comes by, I want you to bite him James," Megan whispered into James' ear. James felt a jolt of fear strike through him like lightning.
"N-no. No way," James slightly yelled these words, but Megan covered his mouth. James grabbed her hand and yanked it off his mouth. "Theres no way I could do that to another human,"
"But James, you're forgetting, you aren't human anymore. It's in your nature."
James' mind was racing. N-no, he just couldn't do it. It was wrong. But then again, how else could he get food? How else would he live? James swallowed and sighed. "O-okay, I-I'll do it..."
He positioned himself so he could pounce onto the unsuspecting human now walking underneath the tree. James was shaking with nervousness as he stared down at the man for a few more moments before backing away. "No, I can't. I-I just can't feed on a living human being."
Megan shook her head and clutched her hand on his shoulders. "Listen to me James, if you don't do this, you can't live. This is the only way for you to get food now, and now one, not even vampires, can live long without food."
"B-but I-" James stuttered again a he tried to come up with something to say back.
"Just do it James! Get it over with! And just think of it, the feeling of your fangs sinking into soft flesh, the pleasurable warmth of sweet blood crashing onto your tongue. The wonderful feeling of catching your prey. He won't even see it coming." James let out a sigh of longing; he could feel his animal like instincts starting to kick in. His eyes turned from their normal light brown color, to a deep red, and his normal sized canine teeth grow longer and sharper. He was panting out hot puffs of air, getting more and more excited the longer he thought about it. He longed for the amazing feeling of his fangs sinking into the man's neck.
"Just go with your instincts," Megan softly whispered the advice into James' ear. Not the James she use to know, but a changed, animal like James.
James pounced off the tree branch and swiftly landed on the ground. The man stopped and looked back. James quickly stood up straight and darted over to man, he didn't have any time to even yell out. James grabbed the man and sunk his fangs into his neck.
The man let out a sort of yelp, shuddered, then went limp in James' arms. James was lapping at the two fresh wounds, gulping up the crimson fluid. It was delicious to him, the iron warmth, flowing into his mouth.
Megan was watching the scene from above, and smiled deviously. 'what do you know, the boy does have some fire in him after all,' she thought to herself. She jumped out of her hiding place and walked up to the feeding James. When James' instincts told him that he was done and had enough for now, dropped the man and he fell with a muffled sort of thump sound. James fell to his knees and looked down, trying to comprehend what just happened. The odd thing is that James had no memory of the biting. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a limp crumpled figure lying on the ground near him. He looked over at it with his light chestnut colored eyes and gasped. It was a man, and he could tell that he was beyond help.
He felt like he was going to throw up,'d-did I do that to him?' he thought. James tried to regain his memory of what had happened. He remembered Megan telling him to bite the man, then he remembered the worst part. This time he actually did throw up, a reddish brown color spewed out of his mouth as he gagged and spluttered in disgust from what he had done. He gasped for air, trying to calm himself. James put his hands to his mouth, trying to hold it in, but it failed. More up-chuck seeped out of his mouth and hands. After one or two minutes of calming himself, then throwing up a little more, then calming himself once more, he sat in silence, his hands covering his face in shame. 'How could I have done that... how?'
Megan walked over to him wearing a cocky smile and bent down to his level. She patted him on the back and softy laughed, "Congrats' boy, you are now an official Vampire."
