Today smells of utter dissatisfaction
Like the tiny tendril of smoke
From a freshly lit match.
It smells of betrayal like a heavy fog in the air
Choking and smothering,
Sour.
Today smells of sleeplessness,
The cool night air
Breathed through rented car A/C vents
And leather that never really saw the sky.
Of old lady soap
Of lavender and lemon
And the sweat of people who spend all night dancing.
