What happens when there are chips, a willing squirrel and a gentle lady? I was amazed to watch both this one and another squirrel scurry over to this lady in hopes of getting a treat. These weren't tamed squirrels but wild ones. I don't recommend anyone hand feed wild animals, both for your safety as well as theirs. If they find out they can get food from you, they maybe able to from a person that isn't quite so well meaning. Also the animal might get spooked and bite.Personal note:
There is always improvement to be made with any photographer, artist or writer, the way we learn is through others critiquing our work in gentle supportive ways. If there is anything I can learn from never hesitate.
I will put this up for print without the watermark if anyone is interested.

I adore squirrels, we have four or five greys which come to our garden to feed. They are such characters!

Yeah I get you on that. Animals should never be tamed down to carelessness because you never know when there's someone cruel ready to shoot it with a beebee gun or something stupid>:[ But that's a cute shot! I love squirrels. They're so adorable!!<3

Some animals get used to it. The squirrels near the local college love to get sunflower seeds from people. They're used to it and if they see someone with the seeds they automatically assume that they were invited to the picnic.

Too true. My cat KiKi was trying to insist that I feed her sushi earlier today, as well as the Corned Beef I was making for dinner tonight.

She probably feeds them regularly. My ex wife used to feed one by the back door. One time it came in the house and the dog chased it all over until it found the door.

Actually the lady had said she never fed the squirrels before. Her face was priceless, so full of joy. I have known people to keep squirrels as pets and hand raise them, it is pretty cool to watch. Sounds like your ex had a very special connection to animals.

The squirrels in the park down the road come to me when i make a certain sound which i can't really describe. They sit in one spot longer if you feed them. I have a baby squirrel posted. Click download for best view. [link]
