Description
Let's start off 2013 with something completely different. Now some of you may be asking "Shadowman. why on god's green Earth would you write a page and a half in depth character analysis on a character from a show you yourself admitted you rarely watched?" well because this is what happens when I get really bored. I pieced this together from everything I've observed from what little of the show I've seen, and what I've seen from the fans. But a good deal of it I just pulled straight out of my ass. Also I purposely avoided using the term "Everypony" and the like because I don't care if this is a show for young girls; that is fucking retarded. At 19-years-old, Pinkie Pie is the second youngest of the six mains. She is 5”4’, 117 lbs. and of Cuban decent. She works as a baker for Sugar cube Corner where she also lives. Her hair is also a mood ring of sorts or something apparently, as it inflates and deflates in response to how happy or sad she is. Pinkie has a very slim figure thanks to her hyperactive lifestyle and surprisingly fast metabolism allowing her to eat all the candy and sweets she can handle and gain little weight. What weight she does gain goes to her hips and thighs instead of her waist line.
Pinkie Pie is an extreme extrovert; happy, silly, hyperactive, and talkative. She lives for throwing parties for her friends for any conceivable reason and takes pride in the fact that everyone present enjoys themselves. Pinkie is, at her own admission, a bit of a slut. She never truly “dates” anyone but rather spends time with as many people as possible, and on occasion will sleep with one or more of them. She never plans to settle down at any point in the foreseeable future but she isn’t averse to being in a relationship if she truly cares for the other person or persons. Pinkie is pansexual so it truly does not matter to her if her partner is male or female as long as she feels loved by them and vise-versa.
The main reason behind both her party loving life style and her promiscuity is a fear of being alone. Pinkie’s hatred of being alone is so intense that should she be deprived of personal interaction for an extended period of time or should all her friends abandon her she will have a severe mental and emotional break-down resulting in delusional hallucinations. While Pinkie has never been diagnosed with any specific mental disorder; such a massive personality shift with such a relatively small cause does show signs of bipolar disorder. Her mood can go from happy, to panicked, to wildly depressed and back at a moment’s notice; giving more credence to the notion of such a psychological issue, albeit a manageable one.
Pinkie’s hatred of loneliness has been prevalent even at a young age. The root of this hatred seems to be her family. Coming from a very religiously conservative background, Pinkie’s parents found her hyperactive personality disturbing. While they did everything to include Pinkie in family activities her inability to stay in one place for too long caused all of her family’s quiet events to end badly. Eventually her family started distancing themselves from Pinkie; leading to a series of desperate attempts to gain the acceptance from as many people as she could. At the age of ten she resolved to meet and befriend every single resident of Ponyville; a task which, not too surprisingly, she actually accomplished. Every time someone new comes to town Pinkie gets extremely excited and immediately starts planning a welcoming party for them. Because of this, Pinkie has become Ponyville’s unofficial welcoming committee. A title she gladly honors as it gives her the opportunity to become friends with someone new all the time.
Her search for the approval of others has long ago become a subconscious desire, even after mending her relationship with her family to a certain degree, Pinkie still does all she can to make those around her happy. While she does genuinely wish for her friends to be happy and her actions are rarely motivated by selfish intentions, in the back of her mind Pinkie honestly believes that if she isn’t the life of the party her friends will not want to be around her anymore. Pinkie would never express these feelings as they come from a relatively small part of her, but they do motivate some of her more…abnormal behavior.
While Pinkie’s antics can annoy those around her (Twilight Sparkle in particular) no one can openly claim to hate her. Her excitable personality is only really tolerable because she is such a true, genuine person. Loneliness, selfishness, jealousy, and doubt are actually the only things she hates. Pinkie’s love of life is quite infectious and even someone who is in a bad mood will start smiling after a while when Pinkie is around. While Pinkie carries her share of pain like anyone else, she never lets it get her down. She continuously looks on the bright side of life and seeks joy in everything she does. Love and happiness give Pinkie her strength and purpose in life. She wants to share her love with everyone she meets and bring a smile to their face.
I might do other character analyses for the other five mains, but propably not.
