Description
"I need a tankard of ale for the green Argonian by the fireplace," Arwen told her boss, Valga Vinicia. As Valga poured the order, Arwen took the chance to look around at that night's patrons. There were a few of the town's regulars as well as a few foreign travelers, like the Argonian who had ordered the ale.
"Here you go Arwen. Make sure he pays for that, we had a few stiff Narri the other night," Valga said placing the full tankard on Arwen's serving tray.
As Arwen carried the man's drink to his table, Delacourt started to play Age of Aggression. Arwen liked this tale of hope and smiled to herself as she placed the tankard in front of her patron before recieving the gold. Although she was a foreigner herself, Arwen had been in Skyrim long enough to know about the Stormcloak rebellion. It was odd, in fact, for a Bosmer like herself to settle outside of Valenwood, but for Arwen Skyrim was home.
Arwen was on her way back to the bar when a few of Falkreath's guards entered. They appeared to be deeply discussing something that had happened in Helgen. Arwen couldn't stop herself from wanting to hear their discussion, so she quickly turned in their direction and arrived at their table before Narri noticed them.
"Good evening boys," she said."What can I get you?"
"I'd like a bottle of Nord Mead, the other boys all want ale," Elrin, the captain, replied with a smile. "When you return with our drinks Arwen, come and sit with us. You've traveled far and we'd like your opinion on something."
Arwen nodded and quickly made her way back to the bar with their order.
"I see Elrin and his guards are in a chatty mood. If you want to take your break now that's fine. Narri can take care of things for now," Valga said as she placed the drinks on Arwen's tray.
"If you're sure Valga, I dont want you thinking I'm a slacker."
"I'm sure. Elrin wouldn't have asked for your opinion if it wasn't important."
Arwen took her time approaching the table. What could be so pressing that a Nord of Skyrim would ask for help from a Bosmer, especially one who had been in Skyrim less than a month. Could it be an animal needs to be hunted down before it hurts someone? Before she could push her thoughts away, she was back at Elrin's table and passing their drinks around.
"Did you hear about the nasty business over in Helgen? They say that a dragon appeared as they were about to execute captured Stormcloak soldiers and Ulfric himself. The whole town was destroyed, we aren't sure if there were any survivors," Elrin asked once Arwen had seated herself between him and another guard.
"No. I thought dragons were extinct, how did one destroy Helgen?" Arwen asked confused.
"We are unsure. Some are saying Ulfric's rebels found a way to resurrect the dragons and use them as weapons to win the war. What do you think Arwen?" one of the other guards replied.
"I think it is more likely someone else who is bringing the dragons back, if indeed they have returned at all. A sorcerer or maybe an alchemist, somebody with those kinds of powers and access to knowledge of dragon burial sites. To bring back a dragon takes powerful magic. If somebody brought them back I'd be more worried about them than the rebels," Arwen answered.
The guards finished their drinks in silence. Arwen's words had scared them into silence. Someone more dangerous than the Stormcloaks, that was a frightening thought. Dragons had been the creatures in their bedtime stories for most of the men, the idea that they were in fact real was terrifying. Arwen collected the men's empty cups and their gold, said good-night and returned to Valga.
"Did I hear correctly that a dragon was spotted over Helgen?" Narri asked coming up behind Arwen at the bar.
"You did indeed. I have a feeling that wont be the last time we hear of dragon sightings," Arwen replied. "There is more happening here than we know."
