After a few seconds of silence, Cesar spoke.

“Fox…”

“Yes?”

“Uh, not you, sir. This Fox McCloud,” clarified Cesar while pointing at his friend. Then, he turned towards him.

“I think I know what’s happening here,” said Cesar. “Do you remember when I told you the story of the Imperium of Man?”

Fox nodded. “Yes, I do.”

“Well, when I first made contact with the people living in New Hope City, the authorities told me some of them came from the same planet that is the seat of the Emperor: planet Earth. However, they never heard of the Emperor or the Imperium! Then, when I met James Wild, I asked him what was his planet of origin and he said Earth!”

“Needless to say, I was surprised, but Alice Proud explained what was going on. There is a theory that many parallel realities exist, different universes where history was different. For example, the birth of the Emperor and the presence of several alien races happened in my universe. Alice Proud and James Wild come from a reality where the a nuclear war happened and the people of New Hope City come from a planet Earth where they were able to develop a star-faring society in a different way than in my universe.”

Fox nodded, understanding. “I see. You’re saying he’s the Fox McCloud from an alternate reality.”

“Yes, Fox,” said Cesar.

Alternate Fox sighed. “Well, that definitively explains a lot. Sorry for calling you an impostor.”

Fox smiled and extended his right arm. “You’re forgiven. Welcome to planet New Hope!”
