Description
As the image of the Nebulon-B was taken and twisted by the growing Rebellion, turning it from a symbol of Imperial authority and power and corrupting into a symbol of defiance and rebellion across the Empire, the Empire's top engineers and designers began to work on creating a new ship to take its place alongside the Imperial Fleet. While the Nebulon-B would continue to be produced and serve in the Empire performing more menial duties, they would be completely phased out and replaced as a frontline warship. After some time in development, Kuat Drive Yards would begin their first production run of the Vindicator-class Heavy Cruiser, with the first ship rolling off the production line a month later. Designs for the Vindicator-class Heavy Cruiser would be granted to shipyards across the Empire as production ramped up to roll these ships out at scale.

The Vindicator-class would have a straightforward and templated design, making it simple to produce and roll out on a massive scale across the galaxy. Within a few months after they first began production, hundreds of Vindicators were being deployed across the Empire, and within a year, there were thousands of them patrolling the frontiers of the Empire and serving as escort ships alongside Imperial-class Star Destroyers.

While the Vindicator-class was propped up as a new escort vessel for Imperial Fleets, their design enabled them to easily be slotted into major battle operations whenever it was necessary. Their armament allowed them to easily handle smaller threats such as piracy, bounty hunters, and local conflicts, but also made them more than capable of joining major Imperial Fleets for large scale operations.
